It was a hot summer day in San Jose, CA, and the USAR (United States Army Reserve) meeting was coming to an end. Well, I fixed that, I opened my car door, took off my cap and fatigue shirt, tossed it in my car, and headed his way ........ saying something like "here's your chance, mother fucker" (or something like that).

He quickly got into his car and sped off.

Yes, yes, I know that was not an action becoming of an officer ......

Well, as a company commander, I wasn't running in a popularity contest...

His platoon leader was a weak leader and he was giving my 2nd Lt a hard time. So, I told him that if he didn't straighten up, I would do my best to get his sorry ass put back on active duty. In 1969, that surely would have meant a tour in Viet Nam.

Just received an e-mail from my youngest son.

After two tours in Iraq and two tours in Afghanistan, he said he was going to take a different kind of assignment with the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency).

So, now he is on assignment in Bogota, Columbia, helping track down cocaine traffickers.

Now, what the hell could go wrong there !!.....??
