So to put the new bypass actuator you basically have to uninstall the whole supercharger and install again? And if that one is bad you would have to uninstall again that sounds really annoying

Nah, I think once the updated valve and bracket assembly has been installed and adjusted, if the valve ever needed to be replaced, it would just be the valve like we are currently doing. It's that initial bracket change and adjustment that requires the SC to be removed, but still annoying nonetheless.

I want to throw in my 2c here, for anyone that's interested:

I've been running the updated BPV since early January and it's been fantastic. All the issues with the previous model have been fixed, including the weirdness when its super cold outside. I did have to remove the SC to access the brackets to do the install correctly, so I ended up handing it over to a shop.

From what I was told by Edelbrock, the unit was designed to be quite a bit more robust than the previous model. It's also physically larger. The theory is that this is a one time fix for the BPV issue, so you shouldn't have to keep replacing it like the older units. I guess time will tell, but so far it's looking promising.

Got my replacement kit from Edelbrock today. It was missing 2 M6x1.0 lock nuts and included two useless bolts. It did not include a new jam nut for the actuator stop, but the old one can be reused. I'd suggest maybe getting another lock nut to take it's place. The bracket is the same as the old one with the exception of having 2 mounting holes instead of 3. The new actuator is much beefier. It got dark before I finished installing, but you will need to manual vacuum pump to accurately gauge the mounting position. The feeler gauge not so much. I'll have a spare actuator of the old style to resell.

For those of you who have moved to smaller pulley, did you feel much difference?

Hey guys. I just got my kit last week to install. Does Edelbrock now send the kits with the new bypass actuator now installed or do I need to also purchase that and install it before putting the kit in the car. TIA

The bypass valve come with the kit. As far as which version you have, you'll be the one updating us on whats included now.

I believe the new style valve is larger and mounted to the bracket with 2 nuts whereas the old style has 3. If you have the old style, I wouldn't install the SC until you get the new style, which I would push the dealer or Edelbrock for if you bought it as new.

Send a pic.

All new kits should have the new bypass.

Ok I took some pictures and from what you have described, it looks to be the new bypass valve, only 2 screws holding it.
