Some newer forums require the use of your real name to attempt to fix this.

Really screws me up though, as i've always used the same online persona, and my real name carries less weight on the interwebs...

I have gone looking at a couple of forums that are of no interest to me but I was a little curious to see what they were on about.
One was a gaming website with very strong LGBT+ correctness in place and I've looked at a couple of incel forums. One of the incel forums seemed to be a little tolerant and gave the impression of being full of sad cases where as the other was a scary misogynistic all women are c*nts place. Seriously, there was no variation in the opinion of women, all women were the same man hating b*tches.

The thing I found a little interesting after spending about 10 minutes at each site (so I'm now an expert) was how little discussion, how incredible series of rationale takes place ("Yeah, I'm 5 foot tall and weigh 300 pounds and I don't have a job and I live with my mom but why don't women find me attractive?") and how intolerant they seemed of posts that didn't fit the desired narrative.

And to think that there a gazillion of forums along such hateful lines.

I haven’t, but I’ll try it when I can. I think BlackMirror:Nosedive was kind of a similar idea. Freaking terrifying.

Lol doesn't stop people from expressing their asshole opinions. Just look at Facebook. Still, there are probably MILLIONS of Michaels out there, yet here I am hiding behind the incredibly awesome and weight-bearing persona of Weederr33. Even still, if your first and last name was included, there could be a boat load of Daniel Smiths or Joe Rodrigues.

It is the lack of personal encounter that enables. I can't count the amount of times I have had customer flip out on the phone or through email at me. Then when I tell them I will be there in 3 days and show up they act like nothing is wrong and it is no big deal. Didn't need to bother coming out they could have handled it

True, but people these days don't like confrontation in person. You can be the biggest badass online, but once you see them in person, they usually shrivel up. Unless you're a Karen, then it gets worse

The Ottawa meet always happens late September/early October. No less than 20 cars show every year

I may organize it this year. Last year was good but ended up being more photo op and chat than good driving roads.

Well hopefully I can be that way some weekend in about a month or so since I want to buy the exhaust from some jackass around there. Maybe we can throw together a responsible social distanced meet then.

Come get it before that jackass moves by the end of the month.

I'm sure we could organise some winter driven cars together. Most don't come out of hibernation until May/June.

Oh I don't know if that is doable!

Once a date is sorted I'll send out open invites to the Ottawa club.
