The engine should not be knock limited unless you start loading it with heat and/or high load. Therefore if you can only have poor fuel, just don't go crazy. Highway, town or city driving should be a non issue. The car manual in the UK says that 95RON is fine, just expect poorer performance. That is probably around 88/89 Octane in US terms.

The IAM=0 are possibly logging glitchs

But looking at KC_Learned it looks like iam might be very low like 0.3

what tune are you running ?? if oft want version ?? ie V4 ? so we can see if its logging issue

what is your ECU calibration ID like ZA1JB01C

You would rearly want to make some substiantial changes to tune to try to reduce the level of knock for long term use and as I understand it you not on pure 87 either.

for starters id pull at least 6 to 8 degrees out of the map over the entire rpm range

richen your closed loop fueling

if you don't see a very substiantal reduction in knock then it likely the engine wont cope with 87 no matter what you do due to the 12.5:1 compression ratio.

The first thing that went on these cars subject to knock in early days was the direct injector seals, they are quite expensive and difficult to replace and not the sort of part that will be available on back road garage.

But first you need to run a tune that logs correctly with a bunch of timing reduction

You know @steve99, as bad as that flkc looks it seems to resemble tip in knock. Though that -24.53 flkc looks pretty scary.

I'm curious if this happens on the stock tune, I'm not sure what tune OP is running either

Im pretty sure the max flkc is like -6 degrees, so i think the flkc and the iam are bogus logging issues

I think hes probably eunning a old v2 oft tune which didnt log properly on anything past a B01C or D rom

Is IAM the same as "Adv Multiplier" in OFT?

I have it at 0 across the board on 91 as well.

BTW it is '17 car and relatively new OFT.

Make sure the OFT is updated and I believe it is, it should be 1 on 91 or 93 octane. Also as the manual states make sure your running 93 if its available

you need to run oft V4 tunes for logging to work

if your calid is say ZA1JK00C then search that calid on openflash support site. then download tunes , upload to oft and flash to car. logging will then work

https://support.openflashtablet.com/...7-us-6mt-v4-03

also update you oft template file

Steve,

Thanks for the info. I was not aware of V4 until now. I will report results of running 87 grade fuel with V4 soon.

I wonder though how those maps change how OFT monitors data. Are actual values (like "Knock Corr." or "KC Learned" located at different RAM addresses in ECU?

Also I am not sure what are templates for. I just grab CVS files from OFT and upload to datazap. Are templates used for Excel?

A.

A.

Template files allow oft to display log parameters correctly, templates are loaded into oft
