Nico only had spent 18 minutes in qualifying yesterday and get familiar with the feel of the car. Was named driver of the day. Must have been all night on the Simulator. With all that swimming in Champagne isn’t HAM becoming an alcoholic, the price one pays to top Schumi… He has more touchy feely with Shum’s helmet than the trophy! Good for Dan but had to drink the Sparkling stuff the standard way today. … Albon, I had great hopes for him till this year but it will be hard for him to keep his seat after another messed up race. Has collected 7 points so far (out of 12) So who will get his seat Gasly or Pérez? Hard bit of luck for Norris, He was getting quite stressed seeing his podium chance slowly taken away. |

He did it later on, not the same as seeing him drink a shoey on the podium but it was still well earned.

I bet Albon stays at RBR next year, I get the feeling Gasly wasn't working well behind the scenes and will only get put back in that seat if Albon has a total breakdown or ditches red bull for a team capable of giving him a more stable car and contract. I really doubt they'd hire Perez, they haven't hired a driver with non-RB F1 experience/contract since Webber, it would be a huge blow to the appeal of their young driver program.
My money is that RB fulfills their obligation to Honda by promoting Yuki Tsunoda to Kvyat's seat next year, he's third in the F2 championship right now behind Ferrari drivers Mick Schumacher and Callum Illot. If he beats Gasly significantly he'll get Albon's seat in 2022, by which point Renault will happily sign a French driver now that Ocon's two years are up, Gasly goes to Renault, Albon back to Italy unless he ditches for another midfield team. Albon has great racecraft, and I have a feeling the cars so bad you need Hamilton, Ric or maybe Bottas to hang with Verstappen in it. And you know I bet having a Thai driver promoting a Thai drink company is worth a little bit of looking the other way on raw pace when you know you don't really have anyone faster you can readily put in the seat. |

Kind of forgot about him.. I was thinking that Honda getting away from F1 would jeopardize Yuki’s chances, seems there is still hope for him. From a few days ago: https://www.planetf1.com/news/honda-...-yuki-tsunoda/ Albon is possibly going thru and doing a “Seb” crises at RBR, as you noted Max is pretty hard to beat for whoever teams up with him. |

Ricciardo is really leaving Renault at the wrong time. Cyril can only blame himself for overpromising and underdelivering every year until now. Can you imagine if Ricciardo and Alonso were at Renault next year? There'd be fireworks probably, but what a lineup!

I don't think Fernando vs Ricciardo would be that interesting, Alonso is only a year younger then Kimi and he's been out of the game for 2 years, I don't think he's got much left, it'd just prove Ricciardo is a great driver by either matching or being a little ahead. It'll be interesting to see if Ocon can maybe shine a little brighter, maybe sign another contract or if his F1 game is up. |

Although at this point it's more of a bet on how things will go with the 2022 regs. Probably Daniel's decision was based on how Renault's future is looking from the inside... Or maybe this will turn out to be an Alonso 2014 level blunder. |

HAAS-ta la vista baby.
Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen to leave Haas. No strong rumours yet on who the replacements will be. Older Drivers with the Money backing or some young Ferrari drivers? Stay tuned for Heineken Grande Prémio De Portugal 2020 This weekend at Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. |

I saw that, I think making room for money and youth. Maybe pick up Perez and add a Ferrari kid. They really weren't getting anywhere with their current driver paring though I do like KMag's aggressiveness.
Excited for Portimao!! I don't think race wise it will be special but the track looks spectacular and seeing the cars going 10/10's around it in quali will be pretty awesome.
