It is too weak, flimsy to support any considerate weight, I guess..

Tomorrow I will be working on my car and will access it from behind and luckly there will be some P/N

Length of the police tape is 50 meters?

Just use that instead.

If your car is JDM import, probably it was the aftermarket ETC.
It's a local accessory for wireless toll payment.

I have no idea even how to look it up, don`t really want to buy another headliner, will start thinking what to do next

Just saw this picture in another thread, would that be what you were mentioning?

Would you have like a picture or anything? my next step is to find how to close this damn hole or cover.
post a picture of the wiring that's up there, that will help narrow down some of the differences.

this is really the best option.

to get rid of that spot correctly, it's going to be either
a: replace headliner with a new/used model
b: re-cover headliner with new material.

both involve taking the entire headliner out. A just requires swapping the new one in, B requires getting fabric, backing the hole with something a similar consistency as the rest of the headliner, and then applying spray-on adhesive, then applying fabric. many fabric stores carry headliner fabric.

i did it in a ford ranger after repeated attempts at the local junk yards failed to find the right model headliner, or one in any better condition. took all day to do, and it's not the most fun job in the world...

some guy's take the opportunity to use other materials to re-cover the headliner-- any fabric will work, headliner fabric just has a 1/8" foam backer on it which gives it a little flexibility.

I'm out. Where is TAS? Perhaps try asking in a regional sub-forum.

i'm positive i've seen that design before. i just can't place it.

the wiring that's there is all oem. front harness is of course the dome light, the harness over the mystery hole should be the oem microphone connector. i was hoping there was another mystery connector i could trace down...

there's this 'trigger' brand wireless switch setup, but it's recessed pod design doesn't have the cutout in the side.
https://triggercontroller.com/produc...te-flat-mount/

i want to say there was another brand of wireless switch like that was really similar that had the cutout in the side to make it powered

there's also 2 HKS products. a boost controller and turbo timer. but neither appear to have a recessed mounting kit.
https://www.driftshop.com/hks-evc-s-...ontroller.html
https://www.driftshop.com/hks-turbo-timer-type-0.html

and finally, there's a few remote-head 2-way cb or ham radio's that have a similar mounting style, but all of them are more rounded on the corners than that design. and none are inset into the panel surface

http://atvillustrated.com/content/ru...ote-head-radio

i've tried about 50 other search terms i can think up, but none show anything closer than those above results

Right hand drive, pictures are dated a day ahead of US, my guess would be Tasmania.

I did read your comment and I appreciate, however I tried to search further info on that and could not find anything, also `probably` won`t work for me in terms of deciding what to do next.

Going to concentrate on my other projects and eventually either fit something, try to fix the hole or buy a new headliner.

Thanks for the support

Correct, I`m from Tasmania, I dare to say I can count the 86s with my hands in the whole state ha, probably no sub-forums

Thank you for the time and patience. I`m guessing this was fitted around 2014, reason? No idea. The tray doesn`t have any locking mechanism, unless the previous owner kept whatever there glued/velcro. And even if it was some boost controller, just seems very odd the location, I can only guess but I think he used to track this car, if anything useful could be used there, out of my knowledge. Also the install was 5/10, therefore I don`t think it came like that from factory nor specialised accessory fitting places, if that makes sense
