Never been a huge fan of muscle vehicles. But it is almost heartbreaking to hear how ICEs are on their last years of production. It would be a good time to start investing in boom box companies that will be adding speakers to electric vehicles so they can sound like a charger/challenger.

I grew up with muscle cars. I am of the group that feels that the true muscle car pretty much died out in the mid 70s though.

High powered 4 door sedans are NOT muscle cars and never have been while Mustangs and Camaros are firmly in the Pony car category no matter how much power they make. Hell, the category was even named after the mustang!

To some extent the Challenger is the only survivor and even that is closer to the Pony car definition (that us old guys know) now.

Enjoy!
I know. But I was having a hard time making a joke around how it's going to always be charging. So that's what you got.

Lol, they'll come back. I'm betting there's going to be a few years of chaos and woe before they realize the mistake.

What is the difference between pony and muscle again?

Muscle cars were mid to full size two door coupes with larger engines than the "standard" of the make/model. They were usually pretty bare bones versions of a normal production model. They were primarily designed for straight line only performance.

Pony cars are smaller, lighter compact (yes both the Mustang and Camaro were considered compacts at one point in time) to mid sized cars that were more often designed for more varied road type use.

Some thing overlap of course and the line has really blurred since the 80s but they really were two separate categories.

It is sort of like saying that a Miata, a Supra and a WRX are all "sportscars" because they loosely fit a description.

A great example! I'm from way after the pony/muscle car era, and they never got me excited (old or modern versions), and this analogy really makes it clearer.

Yep, completely agree. The closest thing I can think of a muscle car these days really isn't. The Cadillac CTS-V coupes were close, but they had too many "pretty and soft" bits to be a muscle car. The Chevy SS was close as well.

I can't really say what the most recent production car is I would consider a muscle car.

So is the eCharger (whatever name they come up with) gonna weigh like 6000 lbs?

Well if @Spuds is right, Dodge could just wait out, until EV's fade, and then they could produce some celebratory big ass engine muscle car and name it the

Dodge Bullett.

At least! Already pushing that and it won't get lighter than it is now. Not if they keep it the same size at any rate.

I had a rental for a week once. One of the worst driving experiences of my life.

GM always sort of struggled with the whole full size muscle car concept even back in the 60s and 70s heyday. Their SS lineup was all over the map. The midsize SS/Sports versions (Chevelle, Nova, GTO etc) were usually easy to call a muscle car but the full size (Impala, Bonneville, etc) really didn't cut it. A full size SS with a 289 two barrel could hardly move it's own weight much less be called "Muscle". Was more of a Tendon car. At the same time you could get a bare bones 409 4 barrel Biscayne that would blow the doors off anything.
They did get things right for a bit with the GNX but it was a bit late in the game.

So a Tesla Model S Plaid is a muscle car?
