It is possible probably.

Use the RCA ins of the backup camera hookup like a video-in hookup. Wire a switch so you can fool the HU into thinking it is in reverse. Use a digital to analog converter and the mini hdmi out on your android phone.

I just checked the digital to analog converters are like $30.
you might still have trouble with getting it to look good.

The stock frs one. No. Only the bespoke has a screen and I'm not sure if it has an input for a reverse camera.

I was only hypothesizing that you could do this with the brz one.

Other problem I didn't think about was the backup lines overlay it places on the video. I don't know if you can turn that off or not.

backup lines are camera dependent. i have mine hooked to a switch and wen i hook up my SNES theres no lines, but u will have to deal with "CHECK SURROUNDINGS FOR SAFETY". that cant b disabled

I did find what should be a solution to this...it's convoluted though.

First you'd need this to convert an hdmi signal to composite: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Mini-Composite-CVBS-Converter-1080P/dp/B009A6PJKQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1378855156&sr=8-5&keywords=hdmi+to+composite+converter"]Amazon.com: Mini Composite RCA CVBS AV to HDMI Converter For VCR DVD 720P 1080P: Electronics[/ame]

and an android device like this to run torque: [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Version-Bluetooth-Android-Google-Dongle/dp/B00A1ZTQB8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1378855304&sr=8-1&keywords=mini+android+pc+bluetooth"]Amazon.com: New Version Bluetooth Ug007 Mini Pc Android 4.1 Google Tv Dongle Dual Core Cortex A9 Wifi 1080p RAM 1gb+rom 8gb+3d: Electronics[/ame]

then you need a way to power it all: so 12v to usb would work...tuck that under your dash somewhere

then you'd need some way of controlling the screen: so a touch pad or something

then you'd have to wire an spst switch to tell the screen your car is in reverse...so you can switch to the input on demand.

Then you'd have to solve the issue of getting android to boot and run an application on boot...https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...=com.autostart Seems simple enough.

Oh, and those little mini-computers don't have accelerometers so you'd be missing out on capturing those readings.

$30 + $45 + $10 + $5 + $15 = $105

I kind of want to do this, but it's in the realm of not worth it. You could even get it down some if you used your own phone or tablet in place of the mini computer, but then you'd have to set it up every time you got in the car.

If any of you are into basic programming, there's a simple little Android computer called the Raspberry Pi. It can run apps, music sharing, internet services, etc. It can also fit almost anywhere and has multiple awesome outputs. I may try to set up Torque on it with an added accelerometer board and hook it up to the factory BRZ head unit once I actually purchase my baby.

Seriously, look it up. It requres 5V power (tap into the USB port power) and has audio out, video out, an HDMI port, ethernet, USB, everything. Seems awesome to me. It's also pretty damned quick for its size and low price.

I'm familiar. The android port for it isn't all that stable and doesn't do bluetooth (well). I think I might try the reverse camera hookup trick (so that audio can still be played) and an hdmi to composite (rca) converter.

So, this should only set me back $20 for the converter, $2 for the hdmi mini to hdmi cable, $a few to for the molex to rca adapter for the back of the headunit, etc.

I wonder if there is a gps/vss limitation that shuts of the reverse camera video at speed?
