Dry fill is 7.5L, drain and refill is 2L. Most of the 5.5L difference is in the torque converter (4.5L according to the service manual).

The 2L drain and refill procedure is essentially the same as the manual trans. Pull plugs, drain, replace drain plug, refill until fluid reaches overflow, reinstall fill plug, reinstall overflow plug.

A key difference is that the auto then needs to be brought up to 109-117*F to check/adjust the fluid level. There is a temperature check in Techstream or a test mode using a jumper and shifting rapidly between N and D for 6 seconds that will trigger the shift indicator lights to represent the temp being high/low/in range (never done it, just summarizing the service manual instructions).

A slightly more advanced refill, would be to drain and remove the pan. Check the magnets in the pan for shavings. Replace the screen assembly. Replace the pan gasket and reinstall the pan. Then refill. Should still be around 2L refill, but has the benefit of giving access to check the magnets for shavings

With access to the right equipment the trans can have fresh fluid pumped through it to flush and replace more than 26% of the fluid. Back in the day, the DIYer could "replicate" the procedure by disconnecting the trans cooler return line, and running a hose from the trans to a bucket (think gallons not liters) of fresh fluid and another house from the cooler line to an empty bucket and then start the vehicle (on stands) and let the trans flush itself by pumping old fluid into the empty bucket while sucking in the clean fluid (I have no idea of modern autos will still do this; I haven't owned an auto trans in 20 years; try at your own risk).

The alternative method for replacing most of the fluid is to remove the transmission. Remove and drain the torque converter. Refill and reinstall.

Am I understanding this correctly in that you are diluting the existing used fluid with only 27% new fluid? If so, is there a method to flush the system and replace with 100% fresh fluid without having to remove the tranny?
