@humfrz,
Went to the dive bar today. The gal that went to rehab failed. She admitted she lasted 3 days, and checked herself out. Bummer.

We’re child-free but we live in a baby-making-factory neighborhood. I swear it’s like a day care all year long. Not sure what to expect this year. All these kid’s parents live in $600k homes but they’ll break your front door down for a $.35 candy bar.

had a decent turnout this year, something close to 50-60 kids. only one door-to-door driver, so was way down from last year, where the street had somewhere near 10 people driving while following their kid from house to house.

the most important part is i handed out enough candy to get rid of all the crappy stuff i don't like!

That's a shame. Sometimes, if a person hasn't "hit rock bottom" and / or doesn't "want" to get clean/sober, rehab doesn't work the first time.

If you are not an alcoholic yourself, about the only thing you can do is be supportive of her efforts to quit drinking/drugging.

Members of your local AA chapter may be able to help her - if she will give them a chance.

We have had about 30 kids, and it isn't even dark yet. Already twice as many as last year.

My wife and I love watching good crime/police dramas.. We had a spate of excellent stuff coming out of mainland Europe. And, some good but limited home based stuff @Dadhawk loves UK stuff, here's one to watch, 'Strike'.

We have sat through the 3 or 4 series, repeat watched a number of times as there is so much detail in each episode.

We were in London a few weeks ago, as a surprise for my wife, I decided to take her to the location of Strike's office, 6 Denmark Street. It's amazing that this address carries so much history. Note Blue Plaque, The Sex Pistols lived at the same address and across the road was a very popular haunt for a number of pop stars in the 60s..

I get that a lot when meeting with vendors. They will come in asking for me and be sent upstairs. My office is the first one to the upstairs door, they will peak in and then walk buy and ask reception where I am.
