7500 mile review.

I know...my mileage is rather insane. I drive a lot, and have a 100m round trip commute, plus a couple of trips to visit customer sites and...why not drive the thing you most like driving?!

I've got the chirping issue, and the shift knob vibration issue, but I'm not super concerned with either atm. The knob issue can be solved by screwing it all the way down and the chirping noise is either going to be deemed normal, or will get a TSB...I no scare.

I've noticed that the care feels more loose, and more powerful. Not a huge difference but enough that a few times 1st-2nd gear pulls have slightly put me back in my seat, just a tad. Perhaps this is also me getting to know the shift points and launch points of the car? Not sure.

I've done one auto-x and had a blast. You can't really feel the balance of this car until you get to whip it around on a track or course. My fear of the limits of this car melted away after my first hard lap. It's just so predictable and easy to recover if you don't do the right thing. I also beat the FR-S that was there by 1.0s, so that helped make the day that much better.

As mentioned I do drive long distances, but I also live in Milwaukee so I see a fair bit of city driving. I've said im at 70/30 hwy/city. That being said my current displayed mileage is 32.4mpg. My current calculated mileage with 21 fillups is 32.31mpg...so the dash display is very accurate.

I'll be doing my 2nd oil change this weekend and haven't noticed any drop in oil level from my first change, also the oil color still looks great. My Quik valve also goes on this weekend, so hopefully oil change 3 will be even easier.

I'm still loving the car and (obviously) driving any chance I get. It is, hands down, the best car purchase I've made to date.

1900 miles here, and for about the past 400-500 miles I've noticed the same thing - the car's engine feels looser, and a bit more powerful. I also wondered if it was due to me learning the shift points as well, and learning to keep it in the power band better and more consistently. We have the exact same experience here.

Holy Crap.. 7500 miles!!!

I'm not even at 750 miles. I've had my car since May too..

I'm glad to hear you're getting such excellent gas mileage. Nice numbers for a 6 speed with combination city/hwy.. and you clearly don't baby it completely.

Any dash rattles or loose weatherstripping or other nagging issues that tend to come up in the first 10k miles?

Nothing of note so far interior/stripping wise. I did just notice my right rear tail light has some condensation in it though.

I'm taking the car in next week so that they can document the chirping, and the knob vibration. I'm going to have them change out the light too.

The only thing I'm worried about long term so far is the left side bolstering of the drivers seat. I feel like I use it to get in/out of the car more than I should when I'm in a hurry. I can see the shoulder and side bolster wearing quicker than the rest of the seat.

It's great to hear a review from someone who's driven their car so many miles.. even better with your long commutes + auto-x driving. I drive about 70/30 hwy/city too, so your MPG average is definitely encouraging.

Yup. I've been reading that cars with over 2-2.5K miles are dynoing about 10-15hp higher then when they were new. If tuners dynoed right when they got it back and kept it as a baseline, and are adding parts but not redoing a baseline I can see how maybe numbers might be skewed.

Bad news though. I just noticed a gasket issue on my drivers door. When the window is rolled up it now pulls some of the gasket material with it at the very top. Normally the window just slides by that gasket and makes a seal. Although it is making a seal, its now slightly rolling the gasket rather than sliding on it. Pics & vid tomorrow. I'll probably make a separate post as well.

This is probably what you've got. Might want to add yours to that thread rather than creating a new one.

I know! I'll likely put about 4500/year and sell it at 5 years, so the OP's car is already at 1/3rd of the total miles I'll ever put on mine.

Anyway -- nice report!
