Glad to hear the damage wasn't too bad (mechanically speaking) and hopefully insurance will take care of everything.

I too was at this event in the same run group and you can see a little bit of the aftermath in my video:

I nearly did the same thing earlier this year when I was at VIR the first time. You really gotta make sure you unwind the wheel and track out as much as possible.

Well, it could be worse!

At least you don't have crazy medical bills or worse!

Tire bundles?! Really!

True, but I have really good insurance so that's never really a worry for me.

Puts things in perspective though I suppose.

is that him going off at :11? Guess I'm having a hard time seeing it.

And glad everyone is ok, and only wallets and car parts are the major casualties here.

My college had good insurance too. I had three shoulder surgeries between my sophomore and senior years. Extremely painful stuff, thankfully the school paid for it all.

Sucks I still lost my college baseball scholarship though...

I definitely got the short end of the stick overall, and now I have severe arthritis in my left shoulder.

I'd count your blessings, and be glad your health wasn't badly affected

That's my sob story lol...

Be glad you didn't do that at the Nurburgring. You bend their Armco, you buy them new Armco. If you're leaking any fluids, you need to be brought home on a flatbed. The bills mount quickly from what I understand. Count yourself lucky at a "mere" $425.

Ouch! We always were warned that VIR would charge for kitty litter, let alone tire walls. Thankfully I've never been charged for turf repair there.

I hit the wall in my BMW in turn one at Summit point last year and took out a lot of tires in the process. I actually ended up being airlifted off the track on that one. No bills from Summit... a ton of bills from everybody else.

Props to getting track insurance. I never did that myself. My opinion has always been to never take a car to the track that you're not willing to leave there. Not that I haven't considered taking the BRZ.

Yeah I know how that goes, but this was TIRES. Guess their "structural integrity" is gone after one impact? And my track insurance covers towing and any on site pollutant clean up, haha.

BTW here is the video that everyone's been waiting for. I didn't edit it, so it's 17 minutes long but the crash is just after 13 minutes in.

Dang man, sorry to hear about all this but luckily you made it out without any serious injuries. At the end of the day, that's the most important part.
