At my job, they reorganized the IT department and made everyone re-apply for their jobs. They determined I wasn't qualified for the position I was in since 2004. Our plant is already as diversified as you get in our area. Some of them are pig farmers and some are dairy. Oh and we do have one chicken farmer to really mix things up.

It's a fools errand anyways. The numbers of every type of people simply aren't there. Then there's the problem of getting people out of those jobs in which the numbers are skewed the other way or of those jobs and into others while still being willing and qualified to do so.

So no matter what nothing will ever be good enough and the state of perpetual angst will always be there.

The funny thing is that though my previous company had a lot of the HR definition diversity, about 50% of the employees were from Penn State. HR didn't think that was a problem.

I worked for gubment in Cal, and for many many years there was an unwritten hiring rule, "white males need not apply".

And if a Chinese female was in a position of hiring, they would only hire Chinese females.

Never mattered who was most qualified.

That's a shame. Completely predictable, but sad. Truly diverse organizations are wonderful things to be involved in - but they are very difficult to MAKE happen. People really are full of shit.

Most are newer 1st generation arrivals who are outgoing and eager to explain why they left their countries and why they like it here. Except for the Ukrainians who are tribal, I think they're an oligarch family with all the exotic vehicles everyone drives and no visible means of support.

We all relate well, even the non-English speaking families, are respectful, polite, and funny, especially the Germans.

Walking my dog around the area at dinner time is mouth watering with all the great, different aromas. I'm organizing a pot luck block party for July 4th and will have doggie bags.

Spent the afternoon working on the Evo while waiting for tonight's dinner date to confirm/respond... (never did.)

But hey! Now all the old vac lines are replaced with fresh black silicone ones. All now cut to perfect length, neatly routed with matching clamps (not zipties.)

...and I think I'm ready to move into tackling the AYC Pump and doing a full trunk relocation given the local dealers don't seem interested.
