2017 860 SE or BRZ Limited PP - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

So I have been quoted 26k on the 86 860 SE w/ TRD exhaust and 26.3k for the BRZ Limited PP.

I have come to ask for some level headed help. I am a toyota guy and I can't see clearly when comparing these two. From the most logical perspective.. it seems like the BRZ is the better deal with the upgraded brakes and suspension for only 300 more.

Is there anything else I should consider? I really would rather have the toyota badges and its clouding my judgement. Talk some sense into me. PLEASE!!

Oh, just pick the one that has the transmission you prefer and has the color you think is the prettiest .......

$3000 Brembos and some very nice riding Sachs dampers for a $300 difference? That's a no brainer. BRZ PP FTW!

Brz PP for sure. Not only does it look better but the performance pack as well??? This isn't even a question. Besides, Subaru badges are much more desirable.

Well I really appreciate all of the replies, thanks very much guys. I think I am going to get the BRZ on Wednesday. I have not driven one of the twins yet, so that is the only thing left up in the air. Coming from two Toyota pickups, this should be interesting. I hope I like it as much as I am expecting to.

Any final words or suggestions you guys have to offer a hopefully soon to be owner?

Test drive it more than once. Make sure to take hard corners and open her up to see how slow she is and see if you'd like it. Last thing we need is for you to come back later saying "it's awesome but it needs more power."

Thanks for the sound advice!

If I am not feeling confident after the first drive I will surely think on it and try again. I am not expecting a fast vehicle, just something fun to drive to work, road trips and to tinker on between projects on my old 88 pickup. My 88 pickup is my never ending project and I want this BRZ to be my daily reliable car.

If you are looking for value the BRZ with pp is the better deal, even if it's more expensive. Insurance tends to be cheaper on the Subaru so it might even save you money in the long run. But just to be a devil's advocate, you should still get what you really want. For example, despite what most here think, I found the 86 front end better looking. I liked the raw nature of the base model, I had no intention of tracking it, and I liked the hot lava and minor interior differences better. And I got a good deal. Even though a BRZ pp is the better mechanical vehicle and value, what I got worked for me because I made personal decisions that made me happy. It is difficult for us to tell you what is the best car for you. Test drive them both, see what makes you smile more.

Yep, after you get your car ........ stay waaaay back from parking stops ..... you ain't in your pickup no more ........

Well, if you're a Toyota guy like me, you might not feel right later on getting the BRZ vs. the 86. Also, the TRD exhaust is freaking amazing, it's an $1100 dealer option vs. the PP being a $1200 dealer option, I say get the 86 all day!
