Taycan (TIE-can). It's even in the URL of the picture you posted.

In Canada during COVID, there’s not much social interaction among strangers going on so this surprised me...at first:

OK, so I’m at the local auto supply store the other day (fishing out my bbq propane tank in need of a refill) and this older guy walking by as i’m getting out lets out a whistle and says “nice car. what kind of car is that?” and I tell him the standard “oh, just a subaru/toyota...nothing special” and he insists that it’s a very nice car....then he asks me if I am any good at pouring coolant...and holds up his jug of antifreeze and points to his car...lol.

It's funny that so many have no clue what it is, even though they've been in the wild for 8 years.
We as "enthusiasts" know what it is and actively watch for others in the wild but 99.99% of the general public have no clue and really don't care other than it "looks cool".
I have found that the flashier colours seem to get more comments and be confused with a super car more often. People just look at the basic body lines and colour and presume upscale.

compliments from 911 owner

Ok so the other day stopped at a light a guy rolls down his window (passenger side) and gives me the thumbs up and tell me how much he likes the frs. I say to him, go get yourself one...they’re cheap.
No, says the guy, I’ve got a 911 at home in the garage, and the wife won’t let me have two sports cars.....oh, says I, well a Porsche would be great on a sunny sunday like today...so why aren’t you driving your 911 today? Hmmm...she’s kind of a garage queen and I was going to but I heard it might rain later....

Ok, well keep on enjoying riding as a passenger in your wife’s jetta then. I say (*to myself*) as the light goes green.... ;-)

Sorry, I should have clarified: I was saying that to *myself* as I was driving away. I was totally nice to the 911 guy. Honest!

Are you in Van City? I've visited for the past three years (*off topic*did the Grouse Grind last summer for the first time.Hardest thing I've ever done physically, but absolutely amazing.Looks like I won't be able to do it again this year.) and every time I'm driving downtown, all I see is BMWs,Porsches,McLaren,Benzs,Jags, and the sort. Can't imagine anyone that has an expensive cars wanting to keep it in the garage out there,as much showing off is going on.

I can honestly say,I don't think I've been to a city that flexes more with their cars, per capita, than Vancouver. I would imagine that LA is probably tops in that department in North America, but I've not been there yet.

Anyway,I was in the Arby's drive-thru a couple of days ago and when I pulled up to the window,I heard through the glass, this full figured girl say,"Ooooo! He got a nice car!

Nope, don’t live in Vancouver, but go there fairly frequently. And you’re right, the number of Maserati, Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc... there is unbelievable. My little city is mostly Tesla, Leaf, And Smart4two....But there are also a TON of mint condition “car show” cars stashed away in garages too. Only get to see them in the summer at shows- and not many of those happening this year.

I started getting offers for it. Guy in a Lexus asked if I'd take 10k for it.

Lady on the street said "that's a baad-ass Subaru!" which was more random to me because the car was hot and dirty and worn out from just getting off the highway. But thank you lady for the compliment.

I used to get a pile of comments on the Lava but that was nothing compared to what I get now. Even with the whole social distancing thing I get many many comments and questions (from a safe distance) no matter where I park. Even neighbours walking down my street that never said so much as boo before will yell out how nice it looks. When I drive down the street people walking by will stop, stare and point.
I have answered the question of "what kind of car is that?" so many times now I am going to get pamphlets printed up I can just hand them to people. At least I don't need to explain the Scion part of the puzzle anymore!
