First World Dilemma?
The New year will bring with it an overseas job posting. I'll be away for 2 years, sounds simple enough. The dilemma, I don't know what to do with my BRZ. The car is a 2014 with only 5k under its tyres:
1. Sell her and move on... 2. Stick her into storage for 2 years. 3. Use her as a deposit for a new car something like a M2 as I have been told by one dealer that they have long waiting lists. This will possibly get me a grace period of about a year and a storage issue for the final year of my posting with the new car. 4. Just in case you're wondering I can't take her with me due to very expensive and complicated import regs. I welcome thoughts and ideas... |

If you're coming back and love the car, then figure out your storage costs and what maintenance costs will be before/during/after storage. Otherwise, I would personally sell it. 2 years is a good length of time. You might decide to stay overseas. You might just grow to want a different car in that time. Selling it gives you options. You can get anything you want, even another BRZ.

Sell. Two years of sitting will not be kind to it.

Sell it. It's a 2014, so in 2 years it will be a 4 year old car. The low miles won't matter when there are so many of them to choose from. It will just sit and loose value while you're gone.

Really? Personally, I would keep the car in a garage. When you return in UK for vacations once or twice per year, maybe you can use it. You'll just need to take care of the battery. Check for a device here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BDV090-Batt...rickle+charger My BRZ is also sitting in the garage most of the time. I have it 2 years with a total of 4k miles and have a plan to keep it for decades. Most of the people in the US don't understand this car and treat it as an ordinary consumable. |

I've seen Subarus sitting for more than 5 years in a garage. No issues at all and track times remain exactly the same like in the old days. Only thing you need to take care is the battery and change all fluids before starting to use the car again. |

I'm more inclined to keep it but will try and explore the options as I have a few months.

Sell it...and it is not even close.
A car sitting for any amount of time without someone to start it up and drive it occasionally...it *WILL* have problems... And those problems will no longer be under warranty. Source: My many military friends who stored cars while were deployed and came back to cars with problems... Mine issue was a 2 year old Maxima that had 2nd gear pop out...they had to replace the whole transmission...lucky for me...because it was only 2 years old when I got back...it was under warranty. A lot of soldiers were not so lucky. |

If I sell then I won't be coming back to another BRZ unless something special comes out BRZ STI 300bhp+.
