Well, shit. The truth is way less interesting than the mystery. It involves a flamingo-shaped cane. And @Tcoat.

Oh, what the hell, I suggest you give it a go ..... if it doesn't work out for you, go back to work.

I'll have to ask Mrs. Ultra. I didn't actually see it. She just told me what to say. I think I'm the victim here.

I think you've identified your own real problem here. I never have understood why people don't take the time given to them for R&R even if its just sitting around the house in your boxers binge watching Top Gear and eating pizza.

I have never had more than one week of PTO carry over from one year to the next, if I could carry any over (usually doing that only to make sure I had "sick leave"). In my current position, the policy is use it or lose it. I have peers that lose weeks every year (we get up to 7 weeks depending on time with the company). I've never lost a day, and will not lose a day.

I tell folks the only reason I work is so I can afford vacation. When I get to the point I can afford vacation without working, then I'll be done.

Had a long weekend at the track for an SCCA time trial event. I totally messed up my hotel booking. I was looking at dates for my mom's 60th birthday, forgot to change them when I booked my room for the 24th. It was about midnight when I got there and found I had no reservation for the night. After trying to hunt another room for an hour I just pulled off and slept on the side of the hwy. Luckily had a sleeping bag still in the truck from camping. What was messed up is I had a towel in there, but took it out before I left. I could have just camped at the track, they had showers there

Normally I'd agree with you. But like I said a few posts back, vacation is only really vacation if you have a decent enough situation to return to. Otherwise you're just going to keep thinking about it.

My PTO carries over, I have like 100 hours of it right now. I actually did use bits of it last year and earlier this year + I took a week off in June. I just have excess but don't feel like using it would be that much more useful since I'd still be returning to the same toxic workplace situation. Which means I'd be using the time to apply and interview elsewhere; not a real vacation.

Happened at my apartment complex last night apparently.. this is a week after someone parked somewhat near my car had theirs broken into...

I thought when I chose to move here this would be a safer area, lol.

I decided to buy a house when I moved into an apartment and saw the burned out remains of a car in front of my building.
