Well, Christmas came a day early for me

It was pretty well wrapped but at some point the flange must have taken a smack. It shouldn't really be an issue though right?

Oh and my dumb butt managed to squash the merge collector gasket while trying to put everything away again.

Now I will tuck it away somewhere until tax season lol. I'm not picking up the flex kit or EcuTek stuff til then. For the others who picked one up, have you guys installed yet?

I decided to cancel my order for now. I am waiting for other to post a review. I am mainly tired of the noise my current uel header makes. So I am going back to stock header for the time being and swapping my exhaust for a nicer and hopefully more mature sounding catback. Once summer hits or there are more proven dynos with OFT tunes I will consider it.

Looks good and typical JDL quality.

It's tempting to buy one of these despite my Nameless Performance/ Cosworth header holding up just fine. Oh holidays... :S

An update: My header has arrived and I will be picking it up Friday!

Possibly the first person in Canada to receive one, however probably won't be the first one running it on the car. Can't install and tune until spring as my car is stored for the winter.

Don't use those gaskets. They are garbage. I had to buy grimmspeeds and replace them shortly after install.

Mine arrived last week too. I'll be installing soon, but I won't be running it or getting it tuned until spring as mine is also in storage mode. Can't wait!!

JDL 4-2-1 EL header

For the lack of quantifiable dynos at the moment (save for the JDL dyno on their website), I got a little nerdy this weekend.

I took some existing dyno numbers from Drift Office that were available that had a baseline for the stock BRZ and a JDL UEL header which you can find here.

From there, I extrapolated gains for the new 4-2-1 EL header vs stock. Since the 4-2-1 was compared against the JDL UEL header on the dyno from JDL; I could get a rough idea of the gain over stock from the Drift Office dyno using percentage gain of the 4-2-1 vs the UEL on JDL's dyno numbers at each 100RPM datapoint and then applying those values to the Drift Office JDL UEL numbers.

Keep in mind that this is very high level and does not include differences in tuning, etc.

They did, but it always helps to see more independent dyno results.

Mine are sitting in the box.... I'm anxiously waiting for Spring.

Got the new JDL 4-2-1 EL header, op, and fp installed yesterday. It only took a little massaging to get the headers in but not bad and clearance is pretty good. I cleaned up the mounting holes with a dremel and used a dead blow hammer to just bend in this part a little (see photos below) - it was pretty tight and made fitting them in a little tough. Didn't need to bend it much though. It looks like just an extra piece of sheet metal over the lower part of frame. Not sure if it was absolutely necessary to bend, but it did seem to make them go in easier.

Other top tip... Put in the overpipe before you put the new headers on. Ask me how I know.

Videos of the exhaust and weight savings are on my Instagram page: Instagram.com/jhillmotorsports

I can't wait until spring to get this thing tuned and drive it!!

You might want to let JDL on what you did for more clearance.

You might want to let JDL on what you did for more clearance. Feedback is always good.

Hmmm...wonder if they will revise the second batch to fix these clearance issues?
