Blackout looks way better in this car. What kind of prep/paint did you use for this? |

Raised my Greddy Supreme SP exhaust as well as my diffuser, only needed 5mm spacers out of the possible 25mm!

The trim on the knee pads are the jdm black Toyota parts from FT86speedfactory. As far as prep goes I lightly sanded with scotchbright fine pad cleaned with alcohol and painted with krylon covermaxx flat black spray can. I work at Sherwin Williams so I was able to test a few different sheens and paints till I got the perfect match.

Installed a K&N intake filter and GCS smoked 4th brake light... goes really well with the 2017 tails.

Did you have to tap any wires for the brake light?

The factory harness is only set up for the reverse lights, so yes you have to tap a connection to your running lights for the V, and brake lights for the triangle brake light. It was pretty easy, and the kit includes some scotch locks if you aren't comfortable tapping in with soldered connections like I did.
The instructions I found online were for pre-2017 tails, but the wiring was identical for me. |

Now I need some black buttons... and finishing wrapping the rest of the silver...
Deciding if it would be too much glossiness if I wrap the cluster surround as well 🤔

Belated update, changed fluids in manual transmission and differential at 86k miles, Motul Gear 300 in both. They were last changed about 30k miles ago at 55k miles. After about 30k miles on the fluid the gearbox wasn't performing like it should, 1st gear felt dry and 2nd gear would grind when I pulled it out of gear.
Changing the fluid has made shifting much better. May consider changing MT fluid every 25k miles rather than extending it to every 30k miles instead because of this. |
