I got it on my wife's WRX...she she tends to keep cars she likes for several years and she really likes her car. I tend to replace my cars at the end of the warranty so I didn't get it.

I passed on the first offer they gave me as I drive a LOT! I am on track to blow threw the 36k warranty in about 10 months, no joke. so for an extra $10 a month I got it extended to 125k miles.

In this situation, I can't argue against getting it. However, I drive just slightly less than that and chose to opt out. Really not worth it in my opinion unless you drive an insane amount of miles.

Waste of cash unless you have a personal reason for wanting it then it can be security. i.e. new manual driver, difficult commute, entering med school in 2 years or some other expense that will leave you with no savings for emergencies.
After negotiating heavily for my BRZ, the F&I guy had the nerve to say to me, "well if you can't afford it" when I declined. I just laughed in his face and said, "you're so stupid." Negotiating isn't a sign of affordability asswipe. |

I extended to 6/80k...'snake oil'? as some have said? haha...tell me that when you have had 2 cars in a row ('08 Honda Accord 9 (wife's) & '09 Mini Cooper S (Mine) ) have major issues before getting to 70k miles that would have cost well over $1000 each to fix. Sorry, but especially with a 1st year model, the warranty will most likely pay for itself.

A properly maintained vehicle that isn't a lemon, won't need an extended warranty. Especially a Honda. The Mini, yeah, a car made by BMW definitely needs a warranty!

"snake oil" would mean that the warranty is useless...1k for insurance for 100k miles is not useless to me. Again, at the least, it's peace of mind. At the most, it could save some heartache at the 80-100k range when something does break. |

Definitely buy it straight from the dealership if you are going to do it
3rd party warranties seem virtually useless when you read the fine print Haven't had a ton of car purchasing experience but in my limited exposure so far, I've been fortunate not to require the extended warranty Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2 |

Dealers will mark those up over twice their value, but hey, if you like throwing money away... I've already received notices from Nissan on my old car offering a 100k warranty for $680. When I bought that car, the dealer wanted $1700. Credit Union wanted $800 when I bought it but I declined. There will always be a few non lemons that need repairs but cars these days really don't have major mechanical issues all that often. If you are tough on a vehicle, like a work truck, then they makes sense. Lots of highway mileage is not hard on cars btw. Lot's of people equate "high mileage" to "rough life."

Check out the famous CEL issue, and hopefully there is no other long term reliability issue with this first year model. I have it for my peace of mind, and when the day I sell my car for something else, I am sure if I can sell quicker and more money with the unused extended warranty in there.

I think it's a good value for the money but if you put that same amt. of money in an "oh-sh*t" fund you'd probably do better in the event of an out-of-warranty repair. I could've got 7yr/100k at dealer cost but since I plan to void the warranty with mods, didn't make any sense for me.
