2021 Suburban/Tahoe

So...I know its not everyone's cup of tea on here, but I happen to love my Suburban/Highway Tanker.

Chevy just released some specs and photos on the 2021 all new ones.

Best features for me:

Available 6.2L and Diesel versions.
Much better interior with better entertainment options
Air Ride Adaptable Suspension (something I've thought of doing to mine)

It's really tempting to upgrade.

That front end works a lot better on this car than the Camaro, imo. I like it.

So the 2021s come out before 2020 even happens now, a full year ahead? At this rate we should get our 2030 models in 2025!

It was just an unveiling. They won't be available until mid-2020, around the same time most 2021's will start rolling out.

Yea, I agree. Definitely think it works much better on the Suburban.

I wouldn't mind having a Diesel one with tow package. Bet they want a bundle for it.

Oh I'm sure on the price, although I'm betting you could pull down a redwood with that configuration.

For me this would like be a 2025 purchase of a 2021MY if I were to pick up one. The depreciation hit on these the first couple of years is massive from what I've seen.

Impressively plush rig with the optional suspension and IRS. Two things surprise me:

-- That they're producing it at all but that might be a benefit of the coming rollback of CAFE standards in favor of SAFE standards.

-- A diesel? Depending on the outcome of the next Federal election, diesels may be banned in metro areas and beyond using the EU model.

Yeah, an off-lease purchase would be the way to go. Just clean out the fast food wrappers and milkshake containers from under the seats and you'll have a bargain all-purpose SUV.

Can't speak to the bans, haven't been following them. Don't think Chevy would be putting money into research and promotions if they thought that was a risk though. Plus, not many of these are bought by city dwellers.

Chevy already sells the diesel on the Silverado as a $2,500 update (same price differential as getting the 6.1L flexfuel engine) on the top packages. The diesel also gets 23 city/29 Highway in the 4WD (higher in 2WD) so it's pretty efficient.

I'd probably end up with the gas one though because the diesel is all about torque at 277HP/460ftlb. I don't really tow anything so I'm more excited by the HP.

That's a fair price for a diesel upgrade with that kind of economy.

But I'd opt for the big gas engine for the same reason plus doubts about long term engine effects of the recent 30% biomass fuel mandate.

It will be interested to see what it's rated in the Suburban which will obviously be heavier in a no load situation used for EPA mileage testing.

Then they would basically be banning trucks here Idaho. I don't see that happening.

I would hope not too. But when things get political, reason goes out the window.

It's happening in the EU and could gain traction here.

I'm sure many residents of ten states and counting didn't expect the ZEV mandate either. Especially in California that already has rolling brown/blackouts now due to electricity shortages. An HOV sticker and tax credits are great unless there's no juice to charge the battery and not enough income to use the credits.

I agree, it won't fly in Idaho and won't become Federal law...at the moment.

So...reading the article it says "Colorado will require that 5 percent of sellable inventory be ZEVs in 2023 and that moves up to 6 percent in 2025. "

Does that mean that if I have 100 cars on the lot, 5 of them have to be ZEVs but I don't have to actually sell them? That seems pretty workable to me. I put 5 cars on my lot, rotate the rest of the stock and I'm good to go.
