I uninstalled mine before returning my lease (had it in there for 1.5yrs with no issues). Stock shifter is so sloppy in comparison. I did both the install and uninstalled on 4 jackstands, so like @switchlanez says, it is doable (this is also the first car I modded, so it's not like I'm an expert wrencher).

Since people still have the bolt backing out with Loctite, I believe the O-ring retains tension against the bolt and prevents it even more so than Loctite from slipping.
