Best Motoring Kouki 86 vs Fiat vs Miata

Fun little video.

Max owns an 86 and Keichi Tsuchiya loves his 86's so who knows how biased this is.

Anyone understand Japanese?

I wonder if you can code the USDM cars to blink under hard braking.

it wouldnt be hard per se.
youd need a flasher relay, something that receives power and an input

Ah okay. I know some cars (BMW, MINI) don't require hardware. You just need the diagnostic tool (or similar) to activate the feature.

Evo magazine came to the same conclusion so not surprised at all to see this result.

Looks like that's from 2017. I wonder what they'd think of the MX5 with the updated powertrain. That extra power and RPM supposedly did the car good.

Evo magazine had the updated mx5. Still gave it to the 86, even though they had the european version with the old style intake manifold and 197 hp instead of 205

Amazon Prime has some Hot Version clips available. If you turn on the Closed Captioning you get a rough English translation.

Not that my opinion carries much weight, but having owned an 86 and driven an ND1, I still think the ND1 is a better car. The FA20 has trouble pulling the car from a stop, and the top end isn't stellar enough to make up for it. I had an ECU flash, and drove around half a tank with extra ethanol which boosts power a bit, still felt underwhelmed. The ND1 runs out of breath early but it pulls stronger in 1st bone stock, and picks up more power with an ECU flash.

The ND feels more solid, has a better interior, and is very close in acceleration. Some engine mods or the ND2 engine make it a very clear winner.

The downsides are poor aero and a cramped cabin, but the driving experience wins hands down.

I can't believe a standard miata gets 0-60 a full second faster.

As an extra car it was great but I have to say the brzs lack of torque after this many years has gotten to me.

It's more like 1/2 a second, but yeah if you wanted torque, the BRZ is the wrong car for sure.
