Personally I think all the names will be revivied once the gerneration that grew up with them has money the car companies will bring back the names and the memories and we will be able to buy then

I think that if they do go with a Mk5 on the FT86 chassis, it will be a REAL Supra revival. And by that I mean Mk1 and 2 versions, which were Celicas that were stretched for the L6 motors, and had improved rear suspension (Well the Mk2, sort of, as the GT-S Celica also had IRS).

So it would fit as a 300 hp NA 3.0L H6 (think FT86 2.0L that has just 2 more cylinders), stretched enough to not upset the balance.

No turbo(s).

No F&F shite.

Would still be a great car, especially if it only adds 200ish lbs.

Well, the EZ30R is only ~50 lbs heavier than a DOHC EJ, and only ~.7 inches longer (but that is partly due to the switch from cam belt to cam chain). So it could realistically go into an unmodified chassis.

That sounds like a good start to a Supra platform.

The FB engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern, the same mounting points and the same external dimensions (well, they'll be a bit shorter) as the EJ engines, and the FA20 is supposed to be externally identical to the FB's. So yeah, in theory an EJ257 longblock will drop right in, just not with a turbo or the stock oil pan.

Honda Again Working On New Acura NSX, Confirms CEO

The NSX is alive again. At least at this point, it's again an active project within the walls of Honda R&D.

New Honda president and CEO Takanobu Ito is rallying to bring back some of Honda's performance image. And based on comments made to Autocar on the eve of the Frankfurt Auto Show, it sounds like under his leadership, the automaker will get a new flagship sports car after all.

According to Ito, who earlier in his career worked on the NSX's aluminum body, the sports car doesn't aim to match Ferrari for power, but instead aims for an excellent power-to-weight ratio and high efficiency.

The original Honda NSX, sold from 1990 to 2005 (as the Acura NSX in the U.S.), weighed less than 3,000 pounds and made 290 horsepower—a power-to-weight ratio that still stands out today, even if its hp figure doesn't. Its mid-engine, rear-wheel drive layout, matched with some powertrain components adapted from Acura's other vehicles, also made it enjoyable, supercar-caliber dynamics combined with reliability far-superior to exotics of the time.

Honda confirms NSX for 2010

If this car does indeed get the green light, it won't be the first time in recent years that an NSX successor has been under development. Honda had teased an NSX replacement with its Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept in early 2007 at Detroit, then Honda was quite far along in the process back in late 2008, when the last project—which had been a V-10-powered GT-R-beater, and slated for model-year 2010 or 2011 at one point—was canceled.

But even after then, a smaller, lighter, NSX replacement was seen testing on Germany's Nurburgring.

Honda confirms NSX, again, again

The original Acura NSX was an enthusiast's dream car come true. It had supercar looks, a lightweight aluminum chassis and a big chunk of Honda engineering soul. Unfortunately, the original NSX went through life without many adjustments, and Honda's supercar dream died quietly in 2005.

To be more accurate, the dream may only have been deferred, since Honda announced in 2008 that a next-generation NSX would arrive with a pavement-punishing V10 nestled under the hood of a far more contemporary shape. But just as we started to get our hopes up, the market for new premium sports coupes collapsed, and the NSX was shelved when it was reportedly very close to production-ready.

Rumors have persisted that the NSX was still under consideration for future production, and Autocar now claims that Honda President and CEO Takanobu Ito confirmed the speculation. Ito reportedly pointed out that the forthcoming NSX would focus on power-to-weight performance, adding "we don't want to copy Ferrari for power, but to also chase efficiency as well."

If a new NSX does see the light of day, we're guessing Honda would need to improve upon the original's 290 horsepower, but a 500-horsepower V10 is probably out of the picture, as are looks like the 2007 Acura Advanced Sports Car Concept shown here. Assuming that's the case, we'd happily take a lower sticker price and curb weight in exchange.
