Huh. Didn’t remember the Mark X having that trim. Was it just a typical aero kit performance package?

It was a limited production model (100 units in 2015, 350 units in 2019).

The key in my mind is that the latest announcement states very clearly "A new model" and I just can't see them doing a joint hot hatch when both already have them of their own (even if not in the US).
Toyota has the "GR hot hatch" in the upcoming vehicles but that is all they have said. Anything beyond that has been speculation on the part of the clickbaits. Could be almost anything but to think it is a joint venture with Subaru seems a streach.
Who is to say its not an EV AWD?

I'm really anticipating that this will be a plug to make EV cars "sporty". With Subaru and Toyota on it after they have been on a sports car rip for a few years now, they may be trying to color EV with a different brush. Toyota could only dream of selling an EV that wore an STI badge and had a huge wing

The only problem with an ev 86 is that I wont be able to install a lightweight crank pulley or different intake.

That won't matter, because it will be outweighed by the fact that regenerative braking will finally address the biggest problem: you will no longer need to see if your brake pads are worn!!!

Funny if true.

If false, this totally reminds me of when Apple sends out its event announcements and people start reading into the colors as "oh wow the iPad 23938 is being announced because this circle is teal!"
