(FWIW, my default set are default wheels and tires. They do fine in the cold rain here in seattle for me)
it dips below 45 nightly and has for a while now. I've been on my winter tires since just before thanksgiving as a result because I come home late about 3/4 times a week.

Snow came, snow went. The All Seasons did perfectly fine. Granted it was only maybe half an inch on the ground, but I take comfort in knowing the car can handle those conditions.

Yeah, I drove around on Christmas into and out of Portland, it was cold but I didn't have any problems on the DWS. Just drive slower, break earlier, and look out for other people that might be losing traction.

I'm a big fan of winter tires. Did a lot of driving/skiing in Utah in 2wd cars and proper winter tires are worth every penny.

Studded tires OTOH, not so much - unless you're a nihilist.

Lucky you. I got 8 inches in 8 hours then got stuck on the highway because everyone decided to stop on a 1/4 mile long hill. DWS did not save me. Got out after 20 mins of slipping my clutch and creeping up. Definitely getting winters for next year.

I bought a set of winter tires and I can't wait to use them... would have been useful over Christmas break, but man we're having such a warm winter there's no point currently. ='( I'm thinking I'll drive up to the mountain just for the heck of it.

Stevens has been getting dumped on if you are looking for a challenge! My buddy just went up there in his Taco and said anything other than a big truck/jeep was getting stuck.

The warm weather is bumming me out too. I'm about 1 week out from just saying screw it and putting my summer wheels back on. No need for winter tires when it is 50° out!

I drove up to Stevens Pass on 1/15 with my worn star specs. Roads were fine. Parking lot was not. Got stuck twice and had to be pushed out by a group of guys.
