MCA Suspension "Traction Mod"
Hi All,
Just thought I'd bring these to your attention now that they are released for general consumption. Our club has been trialling this part in our local series and we are all in agreement they make the car safer and give more drive (traction). It simply bolts in to change the mounting point of the rear trailing arms and reduces rear anti-squat. It doesn't mess with the alignment at all. It allows you put more throttle in earlier on corner exit and the car powers forward rather than spitting sideways when you don't want it to. It just puts power to the ground. It also tamed some more than I usually wanted high speed lift off over steer at a particular local track and the car is more confidently adjustable mid corner after a damper and ride height adjustment to get the balance bang on. I raised the rear 5-10mm, adjusted the dampers a little and am very happy with more controlled lift off over steer and better power down. have a look here: http://mcasuspension.com/traction-mod I am not affiliated with MCA, I just wanted to raise awareness of these as they're a great cheap mod that will actually help you on track, certainly a better spend than a pair of strut braces for similar money. |

I just logged on to post about this new item. Looks like you beat me to it. Looks like it relocates the pickup point for the trailing link a good 2" lower. Very interesting looking new product.
How has this effected the balance of the car? Curious if it would have an effect at entry or does it mainly effect behavior on the exit and mid corner as you described above.

If it's just adjusting anti-squat (which looks correct), it shouldn't do much except when you're feeding in throttle.
The only side effect I would suspect is that since it'll squat more you'll have a potential for more lift over steer if you lift mid corner after getting on the gas. Not really how you want to be driving ideally, but still something to be aware of.

Just curious, what's your ride height? Also, what offset are those RPF1's?

It's actually the exact opposite in practice. The rear of the car is more planted at all points of the corner, but this balance is easily changed to suit what you want with any adjustments you make. I had my car set up the way I liked and with a few small tweaks the balance is where I want it but the car is more planted. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

So... it affects bumpsteer; zero bumpsteer can be useful for those that prefer it.
SPL also has made a part like this for years, for those that are stateside. http://www.splparts.com/products/spl...-fr-s-brz.html http://counterspacegarage.com/spl-pr...preza-wrx.html |

The MCA product relocates the pick up point. The SPL product is an adjustable arm. Two different things. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Does one have to raise the rear spring perches to keep the same ride height?

Hmm, doesn't slight toe-in rear do almost same results wise as this mod? As in more self-stabilizing of rear, less oversteer-ish, less traction loss under throttle, one can sooner open throttle out of curve ..

They work well for me too. Definitely a positive part to add to the list of those you may want. Get a set of Reds while you are there too and you'll be very happy. As for allignment, everyone has their preference. I like 0 Toe everywhere. Some like it different. An additional Geometry aid can't hurt.
