I ordered an ECU off eBay that matches my car. I hope it isn't flashed. When I swap in the ECU do I have to change VIN# or mess with immobilizer system or is that info in a different place?

no you don't have to change VIN its just a reference, not used for security sync. The vin is in different chip in ecu , imobilier doent care in vin different

Car will start and run fine with different vin.

just do the 30 minute (at least 30) loop 4-13 with ignition FULL on not accessory. CEL light should flash entire time

Bought an ECU off eBay. Noticed it is an "HE" vs an "HY" unit and my FR-S is the 6 speed automatic (Seller didn't say what car except 2013-2015 FR-S). Swapped the units with the battery disconnected. Now the car starter won't engage??? Was wondering if the unit was from a manual car and it was looking for a clutch disengagement signal. Anyone know about this and how to correct it (swapped the original back in and it starts fine)?

Was Steve's procedure just turning the ignition to on for 30 minutes without starting it? All the lights came on but wouldn't engage the starter.

No. Read again. Did the CEL flash for that 30 minutes? You have to jumper a couple leads before turning on the ignition.

"just do the 30 minute (at least 30) loop 4-13 with ignition FULL on not accessory. CEL light should flash entire time"

So......short pins 4 & 13 then turn on the ignition without starting and watch for CEL light to flash for at least 30 minutes?
Is there a pinout of the ECU is this covered in another thread? Thanks for the info and patience!

No offense but take some time to read all of Steve's responses to you in your own thread. In post 4 he linked you right to his procedure which includes all those details. He's done a shit ton of work to help us all. We just have to dig a little.
