Tuning options near or in Cincinnati
So, I was wondering if anyone knows of anybody within a few hours from Cincinnati that would be competent enough to do a turbo install on an 86. I already know I will never go to Zerolift/whatever their name is now. IPS motorsports I have had great success with when I had my 3000gt and Evo 8, however they have no experience with 86's. Dynosty is also a no go as of now as well. Thanks for the suggestions in advance. I had a set of very unfortunate incidents happen about a month ago. This forced me to sell my Phantom ESC to recoup some money. I was promoted two weeks ago though and along with it came a 12k raise so I will be in a better position financially sooner than later. With that in mind I plan on either getting the ESC again, but am not sure if I can deal with the crazy waiting list at the moment or I have been toying the idea of getting the SBD kit. This is more than likely the route I will go.

If the rain has stopped by then, I'll likely bring the Viewt.
Wanna roll race afterwards? I need some excuse to open the e-cutouts. |

Welcome, Adam. That's a super sharp TT. I'm anxious to see what you do with your BRZ.
Locally there's some activity at Columbus Cars & Coffee (.net, not the .com group) with weekly meetings from 9-noon Saturday at the Lennox Cup o' Joe. And of course there's Columbusracing.com. I hope to meet you and see your car sometime before the snow flies. |

Hey guys
Picked up my whiteout FRS close to two weeks ago. But have been roaming around this forum for months now trying to learn more about the car. I have a few plans for the car but none for the next few months. I want to learn more about the car and how she responds before I do some power, handling, and other modifications to her. I plan to do some autox in the spring and summer time if my job permits it. Hope to meet a few of you when the weather is a little more forgiving. |

have you auto x'd before? Tracked before? There is a very reasonable event in Sept (itrexpo.com) that will teach you a lot about the car. Hopefully see you there!

I think the easiest and cheapest way to break into autocross in central Ohio is to go to a UFO event (United Ford Owners). They rent Columbus Motor Speedway and are open to all car makes. They charge something very cheap, like $15, and you get four runs usually. They welcome people who have never done it before. They provide tech, they staff the course (gets you out of having to stand for hours), they provide shade in the stands for you, they buy you beverages, and they have a bunch of trophies. They do a slow course walk-through as well as a parade lap.
They haven't posted their 2015 schedule yet, but here's their website: http://www.unitedfordowners.com/ If you find you like it, there are SCCA autocross schools and numerous events. If you're going to do it seriously, you'll prolly want to hit these as well. Since UFO allows ridealongs, I've had friends who are autocross veterans and instructors just ride along with me to give me pointers. There are usually a dozen or so Columbus Racing members who attend these, and you're more than welcome to pal around with us if you're more comfortable being in a group who can help you out if you need manpower, tools, etc. Last edited by Dox; 02-22-2015 at 10:16 AM. |
