I'm on 7kg/mm springs front and rear on my SS1's. I swapped the rear springs out first and put a few miles on 6kg front and 7kg rear springs. Felt really good on the street, may try it again to experiment. Just waiting for autox to start up again.

So after reading, I understand the front camber plates allow for increased travel. Since the rears don't utilize the same type of design (for obvious reasons) and these coilovers don't use independent ride height adjustment, would it be beneficial to get rear LCAs that lower the mounting point to allow for a drop in ride height w/o having to adjust the coilovers much?

Depends how low you want to go. Plenty of travel front and rear with a 1 to 1.5 inch drop. In most cases I would recommend OEM mounting points.

Would be less than 1.5”. So definitely within the usable range for the shock.

Also, I was curious about these vs the Tarmac Zeros. I know it was discussed earlier about potentially discontinuing those with these now being available. The Zeros are still on the site though. Lead me to wonder what allows the SS1s to be lower in price compare to the Zeros, even though the SS1s off rebound adjustment and camber plates?

Yeah there wouldn't be anything wrong with rear LCAs that give you say 20mm of drop and that might work well for you. But some of the big drop rear mounts or LCAs (like the 2 inch ones) actually lower too much and you end up with too little droop travel unless you're slammed.

A big part of the price difference is the stainless steel finish on the Tarmac series. It adds a lot to the cost. In terms of internals besides the shims the only difference is the shaft.

The camber plates were kind of an unexpected bonus and not something we expected to do at the price point. But IMO they're one of the best camber plates for this car at any price point. I really like them.

I still like the RCE SS-1. I ran it for five 25 minute sessions at Pocono and it is a great fit for this car.

For a 100% DD it's very close, almost a toss up. Both ride well and are a lot of fun. More adjustablity obviously with the SS1s but you don't have to use all of it. Some just really prefer a very simple strut + spring combo.

If there's track and auto-x use, definitely the SS1s. OR if you're running wider tires.

I think it is definitely worth it to get an actual coilover setup over springs/struts. The coilovers will give you a lot more camber adjustment and you can also change the ride height if you switch wheels.

I daily drove mine and thought it was more comfortable than the stock set up, it was nice to be able to elevate to almost stock height in winter also and lower for racing in summer.

I have managed to do 2 events and a tnt with 7kg springs front and rear. The car responds quite a bit quicker with the rate change, I'm very happy with that. It's still predictable and easy to drive. It does seem to be a little more tail happy than when it was on 6kg springs. I'm debating on going with a slightly larger front sway bar to help get on the gas a little earlier and more aggressively on corner exit.

The last event turned out to be a little faster than usual, I shifted to 3rd 3 times and spent a significant amount of time there. Slaloming in 3rd was an experience. There were 38 drivers at the event, the car set the 2nd fastest raw time and 6th in pax. A C5/C6 Corvette took ftd, he was hitting 79mph where I was barley touching 69mph in the fastest section.

That's awesome. Glad the 7 kg/mm springs are working out for you.
