Yea, and it is a good value, but its existence doesn’t negate the value of the Supra, nor would one car support the claim that there are “so many better options”.

Shame it looks like it was drawn with a protractor. It looks like a PS1 rendering of a supercar. It's just polygons. But with a massive growth in the back end. For golf clubs of course.

I think, once again, the point I was trying to make - out of the box, to someone who is not deep into really any of the cars, looking for something "sporty" and "fast" and only cares about numbers on paper, they will want something either because it has more horsepower (not that the Supra is short on power), is more luxurious (not that the Supra is a bad place to be in), handles better (not that the Supra is poor handling), or is brand loyal (which no matter how good the Supra is, this is a hard one to beat and isn't really much of a point).

And how did this thread become about the Supra? I'm going to lay this to rest now.

Well, except that I truly hope Tadasan is right in saying the 86 will handle better than the Supra. Then again, it's not hard if you have a lighter car, which if all things remain similar, the 86 will continue to be a lightweight sports car.

LOL well it started out by somebody pointing out the render was just an altered Supra and expanded from there. If you go back and look you will find that ironically you were the one that really got the ball rolling.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a second gen twin gain 100-200 pounds without getting any significant performance improvement.
I'd be shocked and disappointed, like many others I'm sure. A Mazda Miata, while it has it's limitations, is lighter, faster, more torque and well under $60K new. Your move, Subaru.

It’s amazing how much weight you can save when your car only fits two people, 5’10” and under...

Too right. I WISH I fit in a Miata. Amazing how much weight you can save when you Make a car over a foot shorter than another one, with 2 seats less.

Correction, the same torque, less power, 13 inches less car, 2 seats missing, and priced ~$800 higher (club vs limited)

And I have yet to see a drag race between the 2 on equivalent tires...

I fit easily. I just don't think I can bring myself to be seen in one.

It is a little small for me. A two seater 86 that was a little smaller than it is now in wheelbase and length would be ideal. If the Miata came as a dedicated hardtop and was as light as the convertible then I would also be interested. I would dual charge the thing with a turbo and Edelbrock SC.

They finally put a front end on it that I can look at without flinching.

Too small
Too light

I'm actually just kidding when I say that. I don't mind the Miata. I just don't see sticking 4 tires, a jack, tools, and an overnight bag in one. I typically drive over 3 hours one way for a track day and at least an hour for autoX. The only guy I have seen get all that stuff in his Miata, it was an NC with no passenger seat lol.
