Steering Wheel Cover

So I got a nick in my steering wheel cover which of course became a hole which is now growing in size. The deal says they can't replace just the cover and have to replace the whole steering wheel if I want it fixed. That seems to be a bit overkill to me. I'm sure someone else has run into this...how did you get it resolved? The dealer suggested going to an upholstery place and asking them.

Thanks

you can:

1. buy a new steering wheel to replace
2. buy new leather to wrap and stitch the steering wheel yourself
2.5 take the steering wheel to an upholster shop and have them rewrap/stitch for you

Is this from track use/gloves?

Mine is 99% perfect. 2yrs old now.

I'd just get dealer to replace it 100%. Guarantee and newer steering wheel. Just take pics of interior of car to make sure they dont scratch and mess stuff up.

Dependent upon how big the hole is I have had very good success with leather repair kits in the past. Now as a disclaimer I have never done a steering wheel though so not so sure how well it will stand up.

There are guys around here that do leather repairs and guarantee it so if you have such a service near you that could be an option as well.

Well, your going to pay upwards of $100+ to replace it. Found out what is cheaper, a new steering wheel or custom upholstery re wrap?

A "nick" can be fixed. A hole - not so much (in that it won't be a seamless fix). Can you post a pix of the hole - with a tape measure or something in the frame for scale?

I think your best bet is going to a local upholstery shop. Much cheaper and you can have a custom cover.
