Are the HID's the big seller for you?

For those people planning on getting the BRZ Premium instead of the FR-S, what's the biggest selling point?

Is it the Subaru brand? The HID's? Something else?

For me it's definitely the HID's. I got laser eye surgery years ago and my night vision is pretty horrible. I figure some of the other things about the FR-S that bother me (like the center console) can be easily replaced and the cost will probably still come in quite a bit under the cost of a BRZ. The HID's though... Damnit!

HID's are a part of it, but the interior is the big driving factor for me. Also, I really like the front end look of the BRZ compared to the FRS...liking the mini maserati look.

Just my opinion, the brz looks like a higher quality package. Ie I love the toggle switches on the brz. The frs climate control looks rather boring IMHO. The hids are important equipment in this day and age. I also love the sculpted LEDs of the brz. The center gauge on the frs looks too boy racer for me.

I actually like the bumper of the FRS better, but I'm leaning towards getting a BRZ because I don't like the chrome look of the headlights or the red accents on the interior of the FRS. It all comes at a price though, and if the BRZ is a lot more expensive I'll just get an FRS.

I'm probably leaning towards a limited model but regardless I am all brz because I think the interior looks significantly up market compared to the frs. The black red interior combo looks ricer to me and I am also liking the other nice features like a touchscreen radio etc.

I think the BRZ just plain looks better than the FR-S. The HID's certainly don't hurt though.

To me the exterior of the cars are pretty close. I like the front bumper on the FR-S more than the BRZ but with a front license plate on the BRZ I don't think it looks nearly as bad. Subaru must be reading what people have been saying on the forums because I've noticed in all their recent outings they've been covering up the front with plates.

I think the interior of the BRZ is well ahead of the FR-S but I think the only thing I just can't seem to get over (on the FR-S) is the center console. It's just absolutely hideous to me. I'm all for saving money but I think there's a time and a place for it and I think they could've added a bit to the price to add a bit to the interior and they wouldn't have lost out on a certain percentage of the buyers. Then again maybe they would've lost more people by raising the price a bit.

I'm hoping Subaru will be competitive enough with the pricing to attempt to not lose a bunch of people to the FR-S. They might have me by the short and curlies with the HID's though. And everything else they offer will just be icing on the cake. I'm just glad the HID's come on the Premium because after much thought I'm not convinced I'll be going with the Limited, especially if the price is $2000+ which I'm sure it will be, at least in Canada.

I agree with everyone else regarding the exterior, interior and the HIDs are something that I would want. Being able to see well at night is highly under rated.

In addition, I have a soft spot for Subaru in my heart. More so than Scion. But that point has been discussed to death. I just like the BRZ better overall.

I'm betting the limited will add $2500-2750. Leather =$1k, auto climate = $400, keyless everything =$400, heated seats =$400, fog lights =$300, & spoiler = $400. I would expect there to be some kind of discount packaging them together hence my total overall price is lower than the sum of the parts.

@Enemies I agree with all your points but you do know if you get the BRZ premium you're still going to get the conventional AC unit without push start like the Scion. But as for HIDs yes it does play a big factor for me and I love the LEDs, I hate the hell out of the FR-S headlights they look like shit. Overall Subaru seems like it has the quality even though they are both the same car it's just my personal preference. I also really like the BRZ's front end.

The SOA survey had the Limited at a $2-2.5k premium. Hopefully 2.5k is the upper end and it is closer to $2k. If it is almost $3k I would have to say pass.

It's mostly the Stereo and the part right underneath it that puts me off the FR-S' interior. The turn-style knobs don't bother me all that much. Or at least I could live with them.

That stereo would have to go immediately though. And the console with H, M, and the Hazard... Ugh, brutal. But with a nice NAV up above I could probably deal with it at least.
