I am new to the world of mods. If I wanted to get the HKS exhaust system or something similar, where would I get it stateside?
Also, Is there any exhaust system or mod that is could be done for less cash than the HKS exhaust? I am more of a do-it-yourself man (aka cheap).

HKS is a major brand and will be carried by many of the forum sponsored vendors as well as others.

Yes, there will be exhaust systems with a lower price point than HKS.

You can also go the route of just an axleback/muffler if you are looking to simply change the sound/tone of the car.

Personally, there are only two vendors I deal with when it comes to the Twins.

Mike Kang at Counter Space Garage, or Kevin Ket at Atlanta Speed Company.

Both are knowledgeable enough to be able to ask you the right questions to get you exactly what you want/need.

There's also 86Speed and FTSpeed. Both specialize in twins parts. I've heard great things about Kevin on the Facebook groups.

If you want JDM goodies, you go to blackhawk or nengun.com. I'm sure there are other distributors, but I've used both with no issues.

Lol at first I thought people were tagging him as a joke, but turns out he's actually very respected and highly recommended.

I don't deal with the jokers. He tracks, he knows his shit, he can make sure you get the parts you actually need, and he can get them to you at a better price than almost anyone else.

I know it sounds like I'm shilling for him, but I like to give praise to the good vendors.

I heard shaken (車検) said in the video around when they show a microphone set up next to the exhaust but I don't know Japanese so I'm just going to guess that it's for sound level testing. Apparently the shaken threshold is 96dB while the CA standard is 95dB? There's hope for us, Commiefornia residents rejoice!

Also yet another dyno chart at 2:23 or so.

The JDM exhausts need to meet JASMA requirements for noise and emissions.
The HKS website puts this exhaust at 88db for near noise - at 5250rpm I believe, which was the testing shown in the clip.
82db for stock.

If someone gets the HKS exhaust, please do a comparison of internal cabin noise with fake speaker + stock exhaust, and internal cabin noise with no speaker + HKS exhaust
