Just a quick question from a noob. So the Subaru OEM sub is that Kicker wedge? That's only slightly better than the ported box I'm using.

Has anyone successfully mounted a 10" in a custom box similar to OEMaudio+? And what happened to the MTX Thunderform for these? So little interest it died?

there was the integrity concepts box for quite a while, but you're about 2-3 years too late.

https://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=31813

he and his site dropped off the face of the earth never to be heard from again.

the only 2 options i've been able to come up with are the jl audio stealthbox, and the oem+ system, but oem+ is not very user-friendly for tinkerers.

The Integrity Concepts enclosures are really nice but you would have to find someone willing to give theirs up.

I actually found something similar at: https://shop.wickedcas.com/scion-fr-...gic-box--.html however they're bigger than what I want. They stick out too much IMO.

Then there's these: http://www.conceptenclosures.com/product-p/ce-frs.htm But again, taking up a lot of trunk space and not what I want. I'm not entering bass contests, I just like heavy bass in my hip-hop and EDM.

Then someone over on the "what did you do to your FRS today" thread commented on my subwoofer install and mentioned the OEM+ system, which I've seen, and the Jl Audio Stealthbox, which I hadn't. I really like the Stealthbox, but there's no place to mount an amp on it. So I think I'm gonna call around to some local shops and find a custom shop and work with them to get a custom box made similar to the Stealthbox.

But I'm just getting started on this stereo and don't know much about the OEM unit. I have the touchscreen, but it's in basic mode. My current ported 10" is rather overpowering, even with the amp level turned all the way down and the bass lowered as well. And I don't want to lower the bass, I want to brighten up the mids and higs so I can have a good sound balance from low to high volume. I'm considering upgrading the head, but I'm kinda anal about wanting a 200mm unit with Android.

Here's a pic of my setup before install. The box stayed there and is pointed into the cabin.

i forgot about the wickedcas boxes. i hadn't been able to find them in a while, so thought they went out as well. their pricing is on par with the integrity box pricing before. wicked is going to use some pre-forming techniques, just as integrity did. it helps create more consistent production runs, and ends up saving the customer money.

a fully custom box is likely going to cost well north of $600 from anywhere...

i would suggest mounting the amp somewhere other than the box. that was part of what saved me a ton of hassle-- when they stole my box, the amp is mounted elsewhere more rigidly, so all i really needed to replace was the sub and box instead of more of the setup.

you should also consider a sealed box instead of a ported box. ported can be louder, but it sounds like it might not be tuned correctly for the environment.

If that's the case, I should probably sell what I have now (probably the speaker and box apart from the amp) and go with the Stealthbox, since it's the form factor I like most. I guess I can mount the amp on the underside of the rear deck; there's plenty of room there.

What is the size of the two bolts/screws to install the OEM subwoofer? Would someone mind measuring the length and thread width? Long story short mine originally came with WRX mounting equipment and I'm going to have to source the bolts/screws myself. Thanks!

Does anyone know if I can wire in a 2013 factory sub into a 2017+ model BRZ?
Since the HUs got updated, will the wiring harness still be plug and play like how the instructions state?

I believe the overall sound system is the same, so shouldn't be a problem

You can in fact purchase the OEM Kicker sub woofer harness individually. Here is the part number in case anyone else only had a sub woofer but no harness.

Subaru Part #H630SFG810

Does anyone have preferred / optimal EQ settings for the 2017+ BRZ Headunits with the oem sub? Mine does not come with the different Hz settings.

For anyone who has to also create the hardware kit (bolts, knobs, etc.) if you bought your subwoofer used/secondhand, I used the following items. Note, I used SAE parts because it was easier to find knobs in those sizes than in Metric.

For the Speed Clip, M6: Hillman ¼-20 Extended U-Nut - $.96
For Thumb Knob: Hillman ¼-20 Clamping Knob w/ Male Stud - $2.68
For M6 x 25 bolt: Hillman ¼-20 x 1 Grade 5 Hex Cap Screw - $1.24
For Hand Knob: Hillman ¼-20 Clamping Knob w/ Female Insert - $2.65
For Jam Nut: Hillman ¼-20 Grade 5 Hex Nut - $1.08

Hardware kit total (before taxes): $8.61
