post facelift headlights on preface lift car
G'day a mate of mine has a post facelift model and just bought new headlights, he gave me his. I am wondering if there will be any fitment hassles installing them on my preface lift car, but I can't find anyone that's done it - may be due to ignorance - anyone know if they'll fit and mount? before I go and take my bumper off or a thread that explains that
please and thankyou |

Sorry to necro an old thread.
Looking to do the same on my FRS. Did OP figure it out? Is it straight plug and play? Will the pre facelife bumper fit with no issue as well? |

considering the only 2 posts from them in a full year are in this thread, i'd be surprised if they even remember their password.

It depends extremly on modell and options If this Plug& Play or not.
First things first, mechanical everything is Plug &Play . Each gen1 headlight fits each each gen1 car. If interchanging between BRZ and 86 there might be minor things to do arround that little rubber piece at the inner side of the BRZ HL or vice versa the small gab it covers. Elctrical it's a little more to say. Basically you have half the Work done If your Car has at least HID headlights from factory. If the car comes with classic bulbs you'll find another connector (6Pin) which does not match HID nor LED HL. HID and LED cars have an 8 Pin connector. If you find the "correct" connector, it still might require a few Pins to be exchanged. If this is necessary you can answer easily by yourself. Just compare the DRL and trun Signal confirgration: The gen1 BRZ the easiest Car to be upgraded. DRL in the bumper, Turn light integrated. This matches Gen2 BRZ LED HL. So nothing to be changed. Therefore you have some Work to do If youre planning by any reason to put in a Gen1 86 HID headlights. This would require wiring. The other options work similar. Compare the lighting confirgration (means is DRL and turnlight integrated or not) and it will tell you If wiring is required. The good news: No matter which direction you are taking, everything needed is there. It's only repinning. "Missing" signals will be found in the auxilary harness which goes down to the DRL or turnlight. They Just need to be pinned into the correct postion of the 8pin connector. Only Situation where youre actualy on the better side with an adapter harness is If you have a 6pin, means you have halogen headlights from factory. Concerning pinout: Please dont ask, there are mist wiring diagrams for the twins somewhere leaked in the WWW. Just do your own research since it would be a 2 page post to cover every possible confirgration/situation. Or: Just go the traditional way and measure with a multimeter. It's not that hard If you have at least kind of an idea how a multimeter works.
