Anyway, I'm trying to decide right now between RPF1 17x9 +35 with 255/40 or 18x9.5 +38 with 255/35. Didn't realize you could squeeze a 265/35 under there o_O

Trying to avoid needing LCAs and fender rolling. Practical side of me is saying go with the 17" for lighter weight and cheaper tires, but the 18" looks so good.

Also cant figure out if going to 18" really makes the ride harsher or if thats just a myth that gets repeated over and over.
go 17x9. 255 on a 9.5 will be a bit stretched depending on tire brand. and honestly a 17 with the right offset will look just as good. I see you are in NYC, before you pull the trigger i'd be happy to meet up if you'd like i'm right over the border in jersey. we can go for a drive etc etc etc.

The LCA is more to do with dialing in camber and having even camber and actually pulling camber out of the rear because most of the time its fucked once you drop it. for example when i originally went to a KW v3-at the height i was at my camber was at like -2.2 in the rear. No way in hell was going to drive around like that i wanted less camber, so i got LCA and now run 1.6 on the street with no problems.

we at @AZP Installs have had great experience with the SPC arms. they are relatively inexpensive (we sell for 250 installed), I run them and we run them on our Spec86 race car, they are a great budget product and they have a spherical bearing. If you want the best arms out there then SPL is what i'd go for. DO NOT even bother with ISC/whiteline/stance/all other aluminum garbage taiwanese shit as it will seize up and just make all kinds of noise-we see that quite often.

MPSS is a great street tire, but i fucking hate them. on track its just not enough tire for me, coming from RE11's i can't fucking stand these tires. However they are quite comfy on the street, they have great wear, and they are great in wet (RE11 was a death trap in wet) so there are some trade offs.

But if you are primarily a street car i always recommend either MPSS or if you're on a budget but want a good tire then go for the continental DW.

Hope this helps,

-Ivan

Good thing I'm getting my suspension, cloned tpms and tire mounting done with you guys then :P

Not sure if you remember me but I came by last winter to get oil and trans fluid done, along with fixing my exhaust fitment (swapped in longer hangers). I was the white BRZ with a panda shift knob.

So 17x9 +35 RPF1s with 255/40 is probably what i will go with. Any opinions on that?

The photos might be watermarked, but I consider them quick and dirty photos for illustrative purpouses only :p anyway..

TE37SL 18x9.5 +45 with 265/35 Pilot Sport Cup 2 all around. Can't wait for my TRD sideskirts to get on next week, along with new wing and other TRD goodies

Not sure if this has been discussed in this thread before, but I can't seem to find it. I'm looking to bump up to 255's from my current 245's. Currently run RE-11, which are fantastic in the dry, but rather shit in the wet. Anyone have advice on a good tire that comes in 255/40/17 that is comparable to the RE-11 dry, but better in the wet? Seeing as the tire rack ratings say that the RE-11 is decent in the wet... not so sure I trust their system haha. Thanks guys.

RE-71r's are great in the wet. Almost as good as tires like the PSS and S-04.

Interesting. I may have to give those a shot then. They rate almost 2 points lower on tire rack for wet traction. Never fun when supplier and anecdotal evidence don't match up Thanks for the input guys!

I run them on my built Forester which could break the S-04's free easily in any condition, but the RE-71R's are close to as good, but not as good. I would likely rate them 1-1.5 points below the S-04's for wet weather traction and hydroplaning, with an easy 2.5 points ahead in dry grip.

Question for everyone. My current setup is:

18x9+40 with 255/35.
KW V3, Raceseng CasCam front plates, Velox Rear LCAs

I'm lowered ~1" (basically the least amount of drop possible with the KWs at the front, and slightly more than minimum at the rear so that it sits level.) I have -2.5 degrees camber up front, and -2.0 in the rear.

From most of what I had read on these various pages, I was under the impression that this setup shouldn't rub, but I am rubbing. I lightly rub the inside of the fender liner at full lock, and I noticed recently that a spot higher up on the inside of the fender liner was starting to get rubbed as well on the passenger side. It changes depending on how the suspension is compressed, but it's a just-barely-rubbing kind of thing.

Is that typical of people running this kind of setup? The OP in this post has wider wheels and tires than I do, and he didn't mention anything about any sort of rubbing.
