Overfenders didn't come with hardware?

Hello all,

Basically, I just bought an Ebay overfender kit (I know, boo) and it didn't come with rivets or any hardware. I can't seem to find an answer to this question so I figured this would be a good place to ask. What kind of hardware do I need to mount these overfenders? Will any rivets work? Any other info I should know before beginning?

Rivnuts (Threaded Rivet Nut) and stainless bolts seem to be what everyone does so it's removable and easier to work with.

This is one of those: if you have to ask, I hope your car is salvaged or a project car. Cutting fenders, seam sealing, creating new fender liners.... none of this is for the faint of heart. Good luck!

Not only that, you should really know what you are doing when cutting up fenders. You need to cut and weld them up, and seal them properly so it doesn't rust.

Without context you never know. Maybe they TIG weld on the regular and this'll be an easy project for them but if they're asking about rivets, I have doubts.

This is actually my daily. I'm a half-star youtube mechanic but i've got no doubts it will be done right. I've been doing a lot of research and learning about the project in prep, and in general just not a dummy but when it didn't come with hardware I wasn't sure. Regardless thank you, i'll be getting some rivnuts.

I've read there are alternative rust prevention methods to welding? Are they not as good as welding?

Cut, weld, POR15.

Since you're doing something crazy and looking for views on YT, why not mount the rivnuts to the overfender and drill holes in the fender and bolt it in from behind? Then you can bondo over the fiberglass spots for mounting and have a super clean look. Might be more of a pain for removal but it'd look slick. My .02

The guy who did my car suggested we use regular rivets over rivnuts because they tend to shake loose, you have to go around a re-tighten them periodically

for a home garage job it'd just get a rivet gun and forget about all those rivnuts

Its honesty easy to drill out the rivets if you ever have to remove the kit

Just plain oll pop rivets, grab a hand tool at hardware freight. Much cheaper option as well.

Yea, definitely easy to drill out. Done it plenty of times. Solid rivets are a little more difficult but not too bad.

rivets are like 100 for $10

Thread locker prevents the screws from backing out, but they still come out easily with a screwdriver. Every single important bolt on your car is thread locked. You just apply a drop of blue loctite to the threads and you’re good.

Rivnuts are cheap, literally $0.28 a piece:

If I was cutting my fenders up I would sure want to be able to get back in there to check on rust.
