HELP overpipe stud snapped
So I was attempting to put my Invidia front pipe on and one of the studs on the stock over pipe snapped off. Obviously I have an exhaust leak and even if I did I still need this fixed.. Is it possible for a exhaust shop to thread a new stud in or do I need a new over pipe? Also how hard is a overripe compared to cutback install

First of all you should bring this to the exhaust section...
Can you be a bit more specific as to how it snapped? Did the head get sheered off, body broken in half? Is anything stuck? And please tell me you used penetrating fluid before trying to torque it. An exhaust shop will definitely be able to help you. If it's just a stud replacement then that'll be easy for them. All the exhaust pipes are bolted on, so it's basically just a matter of screwing them off and putting the new ones on. Overpipe should be easier than catback since it's one relatively small piece besides multiple large ones. And with an overpipe you only need to lift the front up. Can't say from experience though cause I still have the stock overpipe. Last edited by Silver Cervy; 07-22-2016 at 05:52 AM. |

Studs are easily replaced.
New ones are available. I got one of these when I broke my stock ones a while back: http://www.frsport.com/DIF-10438-Ove...p_1093873.html |

2) it isnt harder per se it just takes more time as you have to angle it in. If you dont feel comfortable doing it yourself then see #1 |

No one else had to take the passenger side motor mount off and lift the motor to change the overpipe out?
Couple of weeks ago I was trying to change out the front pipe, one of the nuts wouldn't come off of the stud because the threading was so fucked. Couldn't get it off, couldn't get it torqued back on. Had to drive with a leak for a few days until I got a replacement overpipe and just sawed into the nut. Huge pain in the ass. |

I think its a great excuse to get an aftermarket overpipe, the stock overpipe is a restriction anyway.

Next easiest way is to get an aftermarket overpipe and have it coated to prevent radiating heat, same functionality as stock. No one will give you any emissions crap for an aftermarket overpipe. -alex |
