Advice for quieter setup
Hello,
I've currently got TD EL headers and overpipe and just today put a Perrin 2.5 Resonated catback. I was surprised it was this loud, I love the tone up to the redline but the bassy noise / drone at 2-3k rpm is really unbearably loud for a daily driver especially on the highway. I'm planning on switching to JDL 4-2-1 EL headers soon for unrelated reasons, I don't expect that will change anything to the noise. I'm looking for some input on this. What can I do to quiet things down at low rpm? I've still got my stock front pipe on. Thanks Skickat från min GM1913 via Tapatalk |

Do you still have the stock frontpipe? You might want to consider a different catback or move to an axelback instead.

If you still have the stock front pipe then I agree with w33. A catted header will tone it down but choke it more

Not much you can do at this time. If you want with the stock front pipe, weld in an a better resonator.
I have the following exhaust setup: JDL 4-2-1 Stock FP + Vibrant 1140 2.25" Ultra Quiet Resonator welded in and removed stock one MXP SP catback Perrin will have a bit more bass but if you want some sound clips of my setup LMK. I think I have pictures of how the shop welded in the resonator.

I had the same problem. I went to a CSG Touring 86 Laguna catback and now I actually enjoy driving the car. No drone and just a nice mellow throaty tone.

Here is a pull from the car on the Dyno. I will have a cold start tomorrow and free revs after warm-up

decatted stock header is always an option, benefits of catless but im sure its one of the quietest options, its what i run because i dont want an obnoxiously loud rice burner

IMO it's the most tame, compliant exhaust I've ever heard. It'll get loud when you step on it but otherwise it's pretty tame. https://www.ftspeed.com/part/ft86-qf...iet-front-pipe Here's a drive by at like top of 4th into 5th at VIR
