Advice for quieter setup

Hello,

I've currently got TD EL headers and overpipe and just today put a Perrin 2.5 Resonated catback.

I was surprised it was this loud, I love the tone up to the redline but the bassy noise / drone at 2-3k rpm is really unbearably loud for a daily driver especially on the highway.

I'm planning on switching to JDL 4-2-1 EL headers soon for unrelated reasons, I don't expect that will change anything to the noise.

I'm looking for some input on this. What can I do to quiet things down at low rpm? I've still got my stock front pipe on.

Thanks

Do you still have the stock frontpipe? You might want to consider a different catback or move to an axelback instead.

If you still have the stock front pipe then I agree with w33. A catted header will tone it down but choke it more

pay attention - he said he did.

You're running low on "senior moments".

You pay attention too - he said he did - you're not old enough for senior moments - so it must have been a brain fart -

Not much you can do at this time. If you want with the stock front pipe, weld in an a better resonator.

I have the following exhaust setup:
JDL 4-2-1
Stock FP + Vibrant 1140 2.25" Ultra Quiet Resonator welded in and removed stock one
MXP SP catback

Perrin will have a bit more bass but if you want some sound clips of my setup LMK. I think I have pictures of how the shop welded in the resonator.

Would love sound clips as I have the same situation as OP. Been looking at small mufflers to weld in like you did with the resonator.

Yes please that would be great ! Also in your opinion would I have better results with the OEM front pipe + ultra quiet resonator or are there any aftermarket FPs designed for making things quieter ?

The only one that's close is JDL ultra quiet FP and the hks dual resonated FP. Otherwise nothing else will beat the stock FP.

I had the same problem. I went to a CSG Touring 86 Laguna catback and now I actually enjoy driving the car. No drone and just a nice mellow throaty tone.

Here is a pull from the car on the Dyno. I will have a cold start tomorrow and free revs after warm-up

decatted stock header is always an option, benefits of catless but im sure its one of the quietest options, its what i run because i dont want an obnoxiously loud rice burner

I have a JDL 4-2-1 EL Header, JDL FP/OP Ultra Quiet Cat Combo and 2.5" Perrin Resonated Exhaust.

IMO it's the most tame, compliant exhaust I've ever heard. It'll get loud when you step on it but otherwise it's pretty tame.

Here's a drive by at like top of 4th into 5th at VIR
