Racing slicks. Like real slicks, not "dot slicks".

ok. I figured the RC-1 we basically slicks with two small grooves to satisfy some DOT technical requirement which would allow them to be used in certain race classes.

I guess not. Thanks for responding to my question.

First time using a tire pyrometer this weekend and it was quite interesting!

The track was CCW and right side tires were hotter on the outside edges by ~15F, but the left side tires were hotter on the inside edges by ~10F. Should I disregard the left side readings since I was doing predominantly left hand turns?

Also, I haven't been able to find good info on what is proper temperature for my RS3 v2's (or hardly any tire for that matter). The highest I saw was 135F. Sounds pretty low to me though ambient was pretty low at 50F.

Thanks in advance!

Did you keep up your cornering speeds during your cool down lap? My guess your tires cooled down from that. I don't have first hand experience with the RS3's but ball park should be around 150F-190F

No cool down except the last 2 corners or so when I must slow down for track exit.

Had my first track day

Had a great coach, learned a ton both on the track and in the classroom sessions. A few questions before my next track day.

Instructor said I was already pushing the limit on the stock brake pads and recommended I upgrade the pads, and fluid.
Just want to confirm, Ferodo DS2500's and Motul 600 or 660 be a decent combination? Not a daily driver, but I do drive on streets occasionally and I also drive to and from the tracks, all are about 2 hours from me.
If the ds2500's are good choice, where can I purchase for the brembo calipers? I was looking at many sites and most just had them for the non pp calipers.

They other question was on tire pressure. I checked the pressure after my third session and it had gone up to 44psi. I waited for them to cool down and checked again just before my next session, they were still at 38psi so I bled them down to 35psi where I started the day at.
Stock primacy tires, should I be running at 35psi cold to start or another recommended pressure?

Just so you know, I only plan on modding the car once my ability catches up to the cars ability in an area. Example being the brakes currently.

If you haven't upgraded your fluid, you've probably boiled it already. I recommend Castrol SRF, but the Motul is great too. There are a lot of good pad options out there and you'll want a track set and a street set so you can swap them when you arrive at the track, and then again before you head home. CSG can get you set up with pads and fluid.

If I remember correctly, those tires like it about 38psi hot. ALWAYS make your adjustments hot after every session, immediately off the track, as in the pit lane if possible.

Looking to upgrade dampeners and suspension. Budgeting for 3k ish. Plan to run 200tw tires mostly for hpde events with some autocross mixed in. Was initially looking into rce t2 or st xta. Time attack guys not fimilar with platform at the track were saying mcs singles and pay a bit more. Havent heard much about MCS on this platform in single adjustable..two way is out of price range and I don't have experience tuning suspension so I'm fine with a 1 way. Pretty sure I'll be set with an rce t2 setup or something similar, but some of the track guys were saying skip and spring for mcs... just wanted the boards advice. Keep uping budget in order to avoid buying something I'll grow out of sell and upgrade again.

If you're comfortable with the cost of MCS they are an excellent option. I would much rather have those over T2s. I own T2s and like them.

Looks like you get a lot for you buck at the 6k price point.

So, the front end of this car is extremely stiffly sprung, and it's still lifting the wheel. It was a non-issue as far as driving the car fast.

Wovzers on the spring rates... We run 800lbs front and 900lbs on the rear of the IP-BMWCCA (E36) car. Which series does this car run in?

If you can afford them, that's good advice. Single-adjustables sound like they'll meet your needs just fine. You will not outgrow them - it's conceivable you could eventually choose to have them upgraded to two-ways, but I doubt it.

When im braking very hard from 150KM down to 100KM before the turn. my steering wheel would shake, the car feel off balance.

Is this normal under hard braking? or my tires are not good enough?

Please educate me if you know the problem.
