Of course he is. Max has a 3 place grid drop for the next race. Even if Max wins at Sochi, the most points he can come away from it with is 13.

Wait, I thought grid penalties were applied to race start position, not after the race. Max should still be able to win the race.

Mercedes meteorologists won that race. Right call at the right time. I think McLaren and Norris learned something important this race at least. Balls of steel aren't enough to win.

Can you imagine if Hamilton stayed out another lap? We would be looking at Verstappen winning the race!

I dunno why they didn’t pit Norris the lap after Ham. The window was close but at least they would have been on for a 2nd.

I think the team deferred to Norris as told by the radio broadcasts rather than assert that the rain was going to get heavier and he needed to come in. That either stems from overconfidence in the driver, or under confidence in the rain forecast IMO.

Absolutely gutted for Lando, aside from Lewis, one of my favorite drivers. Kid has such a bright future. Love seeing McLaren on their way up, just wish they had their red/white livery again (Senna Times).

Next year is going to be bonkers.

I think it was simply that they had enough of a gap that they could pit Ham without losing position. The win was not likely anyway, so going on to the inters was pretty much a guarantee they would get at least 2nd place no matter what happened.

Alonso was bossing the wet conditions on the slicks, went from P6 to P3, and then the deluge came. I'm heartbroken.

Sucked to see Lando so sad after the race. But so dope that Max was able to fight his way through almost the entire field. Bottas made significant ground too.
