When he came onto ALO he kind of had a shutdown as to what was the best way to get ahead..

I think Ham kind of knows Alonso is more Team Max than team MERC.

I submit the following evidence …

This race is why I watch F1.
Most of the time we can say it’s boring,
it’s a parade, and the same people always win.

Then… once in a while we get a great race where absurdities becomes the norm
and the 2nd bottom half of the players rise to give a great show and they are quite
capable and surpass the superstars - Its becomes their day!

And to show how serious I am about F1…
For all of you who did not see the opening lap here’s a recap of what happened:

And then the 2nd place finisher gets dq'ed on a technicality.

Thus promoting the superstar to 2nd anyway

As my wife said many times during our little league parent career - "Don't write off the bottom of the order. They can surprise you."

We are not finished with this race , They now also want teams to be responsible for the damage they do to others , and 2nd is the first looser ...

I'm just surprised they didn't include some provisions for crash damage in the cost caps. Not entirely sure how it makes sense to punish actual racing if the goal is to promote actual racing...

They don't need provisions for damaged cars in the cost caps. The teams should have planned that in their budgets. Crashes and damaged cars are going to happen, especially if you run races on wet tracks.

Aston Martin have failed in their bid to reverse disqualification of Sebastian Vettel from the Hungarian Grand Prix.

I didn’t think that AM was going to win this one but had some hope for Vettel.
They had nothing more to loose.

Repairs shouldn't count for the cost cap... and penalties for causing a crash should be much harsher. Now that Merc has demonstrated that they can just shove their rivals off at every race and only get a slap on the wrist, if this also has the benefit of preventing your opponents from improving their car this will only incentivize such behavior further.

And when Verstappen was crashing everybody back in 18 and 19, should the penalties been stiffer? Verstappen has twice the number of caused crashes in his F1 career then Bottas and Hamilton combined, in 1/4 of the time.

Crashes are going to happen, drivers are going to be aggressive when they see an opening they are going to squeeze into it. If they make the penalties so stiff that drivers stop taking risks then the only race to watch is qualifying, as the race will be won there.

Yes. Yes the penalties should have been stiffer. Verstappen the torpedo got off waaay too easy, too many times. But, he got better regardless.

Exactly. Also it's important to realize that allowing racers to race isn't mutually exclusive with giving appropriate penalties when a driver does something truly reckless.

Bottas taking out half of the field and likely causing several others 10-place penalties for repairs while he himself only gets a 5-place penalty is clearly far too lenient. Similarly Grosjean's tantrum and Vettel deliberately ramming Hamilton should have resulted in black flags or race bans. But that doesn't mean that Perez making a poorly judged attempt around the outside of Norris on the first lap is anything other than a racing incident.

There in lies the problem, these incidents/crashes are judged by people and each person has a different opinion on the penalty that should have been given for the crash. F1 has continually devolved into which car can make it around the track without breaking a rule from a 1000 page rule book.
Vettel ran a brilliant race, he almost looked like the Vettel of a few years back, and to be stripped of 2nd place because his car couldn't pee a liter of fuel at the end is a prime example of way to many rules and judgements.

I hate Nascar, but at least they rarely hand out penalty's for crashes unless it is blatantly obvious, and if something is found wrong with the car after the race they fine the team and crew chief, they don't strip a good finish from the driver.

I'm warming up to NASCAR now that they scheduled six road course events this season, maybe more next year.

The 2022 Cup cars will have major changes like 5-speed S/MT's, IRS, symmetrical composite bodies that look more like the road car, aero to give drivers more control, bigger brakes, center lock 18" forged wheels, they're a hoot to watch doing their massive four-wheel drifts around famous circuits.

Ovals, not so much.
