History
I got my car in April of 2013 as a graduation present to myself. This was my first new and first manual car who could pick a better car to learn on! I found out about the FT86 community through the dealership the guys at Guelph Scion ( @jamies31 ) were amazing to deal with (I've bought another Scion with them since) and I am still good friends with them to this day. I jumped right into the forum and started going to local meets and getting to know the wicked owners that make the community around the car.
Naturally once I found this place I got hit by the mod bug and bad. I painted the calipers red the week after I got the car, within a couple months I had the header back exhaust installed. and that was just the beginning.

Build Direction/Intentions
Being a recent grad, newlywed, and first time homeowner, my mod budget is modest but my ambition huge. My plan is to do as much work as possible on my own in a "Built not Bought" kind of fashion. I love doing this work and want to get to know my car as much as possible.

I've purchased about 75% of my mods used from members on this forum at significant cost savings from purchasing new. I've been working on roughly a $2k/yr budget (barring turbo, that was my unexpected bonus) and have managed to stay pretty close to that thus far.

Working with my sponsor JAE Innovations I've decided to compete in CSCS Time Attack and get much more heavily involved in the local scene hitting shows and meets. I'm really stoked for the season ahead.

Future Mods
- 300ZX OEM brake upgrade - In Progress
- Oil Cooler/Louvered hood - Went with both for peace of mind
- Winjet/Spec D headlights
- Intec Tails

Autox is another cheap way to build up your confidence, which I tried heavily this year.

Sick build even with the modest budget.

Thanks for the compliment!

I got to try some AutoX at the Scion Owners track day. Honestly I prefer the bigger tracks to the finesse of AutoX. But definitely a great avenue to work on the main skills.

If it was the one at Mosport GP early this summer. I was there too.

However the autox layout was too tight and slow, which I don't think would happen on actual events. I'm sure there's events around your area.

That's the one. Did you do morning or afternoon?

If that isn't representative of the actual AutoX I'll have to check out a real one. I know they do a bunch in Mississauga each year.

It doesn't hurt to try. The one I attend is $40 including burger lunch. (pitl.ca)

Personally, it prepares me to be more comfortable with the limits of the car. Once I did a few couple of lap on my first track day, I picked it up very quickly.

Although the driving style of autox and track(circuit) is quite different, I am safe to say autox is a great stepping stone to more intensive performance driving.

Usually it a LOT of fun when my friends and I try to beat each others' time.

I suggest we take this to PM if conversation proceeds.

Sad day yesterday, had to put her into storage. At least she has company and a heated garage.

Now it's time to start collecting parts for the next stage of my build. Pics to follow...

With more power better breaking is required! Doing a 300ZX brake upgrade as shown here http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70194

Step 1 find calipers. My sponsor has a bunch of contacts in the Nissan world from other projects.

They weren't in as shown condition so I saved some cash.

The "Nissan" will be gone and the calipers powder coated. I'm leaving the factory rears but will coat the calipers all at the same time.
