My scion sqeaky noise from motor.

I took my car today to carson toyota because I keep hearing noise from the motor like sqeaky cricket noise on the driver said. They said its my hydraulic fuel pump. My car is under warranty so they are going to fix for free. I will let you know how it goes.

Are you sure you all aren't hearing the infamous crickets?

I've been hearing the same sound. Chirping/Squeaking. Took it to capistrano toyota today. The guy told me it was normal. I really want to tell him that if that annoying a** EMBARRASSING sound is normal he's out of his freakin mind. Toyota definitely needs to do something about this. It's not like its that hard to drown it out with light music but anyone next to me hears that sound clear as day.

I took mine in and they replaced the fuel pump. Some have said it's due to running gasoline with ethanol. Can't confirm that because I know more than a couple of people who have also had their cars with the chirping, and are running E85.

Sounds like the dreaded crickets. I lost mine as soon as I switched from ethanol gas to pure gas; however, some have retained them despite switching and they have replaced their HPFP only for them to come back. Best bet is to crank up the stereo and don't idle the car.

It's not the sound when your foot is on the brake pedal? Mine has this sound like old plumbing rattle sound when brake pedal is pressed. But not all the time. As soon as I release the pedal, noise stops. Only happen when I just started the car. Not when it's warmed up.

TSB

Toyota has a TSB out for the car to replace the D.I. fuel pump. Go in and complain about it and it will be covered under warranty. if you're on the east coast just an fyi theyre on backorder from california

It's interesting that considering that most people on the forums who complain about this all have M/T and constantly boast about it being so much better than A/T. Now I'm not sure about the A/T people here, but it's just something that i've noticed during my months on these forums. I rarely hear technical complaints from A/T owners. hmmm... But I'm pretty positive that isn't making a difference though, it's just an odd coincidence.

I have an A/T and the idle noise makes me curious. With or without crickets, I'm not sure what the idle should actually sound like and if mine is different or normal. I'm guessing what I'm hearing is maybe the belts and I'm just paranoid.
