Oil drain valve recs
I'm considering putting in an oil drain valve to make life easier. Curious:
1) For those using Fumoto - any long term issues with leaks? Ground clearance? (I'm stock height) 2) Anyone using or have opinions on any others? (EZ Oil, Femco, NoSpill, Stahlbus) Thanks! |

Fumoto here.
Changed the oil again last week. No leaks. It's above the under fairing. Can drain directly into old empty 1gal jugs. No oil drainpan cleanup. Shweet!

I also have a Fumoto. If you go with that, make sure you get the part with the shorter nipple.
No leaks for me, and I remember laughing maniacally at how easy it makes oil changes the first time I used it. If you do your own work I highly recommend it. I also got the little plastic locking clip for added peace of mind, though it's not really necessary. |

I too have a Fumoto valve with the little clip to also give me reassurance that it won't open on its own.
Had it for about a year and a half with no issues so far. I'm on coilovers with a mild drop and have no issues with ground clearance. Highly recommend! |

I use the Fumoto valve with clip. Tracked and daily it. Seems to work fine. No leaks or issues.
I'm lowered about 1.5" (moderate). The metal engine tray sits lower than the lowest point of the valve, so that helps protect the area. |

I've had the Fumoto for a couple years. Just get the one with no nipple or the short nipple.
Mine has even take a hit from a decent piece of debris (it dented the metal skid plate) and still no leaks. |

if you live in an apartment or don't want to ever get under the car you can just use an oil drain pump. Put a tube down the dip stick hole and pump a few times and all the oil gets siphoned out. No jacks, never have to remove the oem oil drain plug, no getting on the ground, and can be done when the engine is hot.

6 years and 70K+ miles on my Fumoto valve.
No nipple, no clip. I travel on dirt roads and gravel in rural areas too (stock height). No problems so far. |

@TachyonBomb until somebody makes a video of them doing a topside oil change successfully on their 86, I'm going to wait. I don't want to be the guy to report getting the tube stuck in the dipstick hole.
I have a fumoto valve and its nice. I checked it this morning and it was dirty but didn't seem like any oil has seeped from the drain hole. Last edited by radroach; 08-22-2018 at 06:33 PM. |

@gravitylover which specific brand pump did you try (and fail) with?
Some guy was all over my car the other day telling me I needed to do a topside change. On other cars maybe, I explained, but on subarus the dipstick is too narrow |
