After reading this thread, I've decided to buy my third set of FA coils.

I learned something new though - even tow hooks are “JDM”!

Chassis-mounted wings - also functional.

On a completely different note, you do realize Supreme is an NYC-based company, right? It has absolutely, literally, nothing to do with “JDM”.
I think he's coming from the view that I also have.
For all those things I personally saw them mainly on cars that did not actually need/use them.

100% for looks.
0% function.

At his level of downforce, power, and traction control, suspension isn't absorbing the ground, as much as just holding the car up.

Look at all the WTAC cars porpoising and scraping.

Guess what. Something can be produced for the Japanese Domestic Market outside of Japan, just like USDM cars can be made in Japan and send to the US.
Now now now Tok you used the word "Domestic" and then screwed it all up.
Stuff made in Japan for Japan is JDM
Stuff made it Japan for export is JEM (for export market)
Stuff that comes into the US from Japan is JIM (for import) once it hits port
Stuff made in the USA for Japan is USEM
Stuff imported into Japan from the US becomes USIM

No imported or exported products can be termed "domestic" even if the parent company itself is based in the importing country.
This is part of what all the tariff debates are about. A Mustang made in the US would be domestic and not taxed. The same car made in Canada (if they went through with the threats) would be considered an import and tariffs would apply even though both are Fords.

Holy crap that is confusing when I see it in print. No wonder people get it messed up.

We all know what the literal definition of JDM is and then it is also a blanket term to signify Japanese brand. The acronym is so convoluted now that it even means Japanese inspired.

I particularly enjoy this definition and example on Urban Dictionary:

“The term JDM has long been used to "one-up" a friend or acquaintance at Krispy Kreme car meets and the likes. By adding a JDM item to your "ride" you are instantly "cooler" than your friend's USDM counterpart.”

“mike: dude, I'm so JDM I sleep on the right side of the bed
mike2: yea, well, I'm so JDM I only have a right testicle”

So you spent half the thread stating you only buy "JDM" parts for their made in Japan quality and now you change the definition so that anything "inspired" counts. Well a knock off body kit hand made in a hovel in Lower Solbovia can be "inspired" by Japanese parts so that makes just about everything JDM Yooooo. Many Japanese brand items are not made in Japan whether you like it of not. JDM means domestic and changing the meaning to suit your point doesn't make it better.

Every time I respond, I keep asking myself, "WHY AM I STILL RESPONDING?" But it just keeps getting better, and I just can't help myself. This is what happens when I have 6 days off work and nothing better to do with myself...

He's also running secondary springs inside the primary ones instead of bump stops because of the aero loading.
