Someone tell me what it is. Since more gas is being burned wouldnt it be in the twenties?

.....best post ever. Try like 6 to 8 altho if you stay out of boost you can keep decent gas mileage.

Even keeping it out of the boost, I would guess around in low teens

Depends on a lot of things, how effective the fuel delivery system is, whether is port or direct injected, engine displacement etc etc...

but either way with 600bHP coming from a four banger you'd be lucky to escape the single digits... lol

600hp 4cyl ...20mpg.....ROFL..... my old s14 with KA24DE (160hp) got low 20mpg.

Seriously though...you need a godly amount of modern technology on that 4cylinder to achieve that kind of economy while putting out that much power.

If they throw batteries in the back and make it a hybrid I would assume around 42mpg. (US Standard of course)

there are guys with 400+hp MR2s who routinely get 28mpg on the highway. just stay out of boost and lean out the map in the light-load cruising cells.

Agreed. Boost and tune. Stay out of boost and have a lean tune for economy and you can get decent numbers. Look at Cobb for some of their tunes as an example.

Old post. I was searching for somethng completely unrelated when I ran across this.

It's all in how you drive it.

I actually had a 600hp 4cyl for a while, and I could get anywhere from 1mpg to 32mpg with it. That's with AWD dragging down economy a bit. The car couldn't get over 23mpg stock, so it potentially improved quite a bit.

With good fuel injectors that are accurate at very low duty cycles plus huge turbine housing with little back pressure, you can get great highway mileage. Open up the injectors, and you can drain a tank pretty fast. I generally ran around 14-16mpg over a tank with my personal habits, but it could go either way.

to summarize, what is the bsfc of the engine in which we are asking

brake specific fuel consumption, if you didn't know.
