How do you "blow up" a driveshaft??? Do you mean that you dropped the driveshaft and it got bent?

Once he broke the rear u-joint and dropped the back of the driveshaft; fortunately not the front u-joint or we would have been launched like Apollo 11.

The u-joint went and it shook the whole car like a sun of a B. It never fell out thankfully so I guess it didn't "blow up". Moral of the story is you cant buy a u-joint and replace it, you need a whole new driveshaft. Local shop tried to rebuild it for me and when they gave it back I had to take it up the bum dry cuz they ruined the thing. Took a month to find a used one out of the USA

Driving down the highway about 35 years ago and the diff on my 64 Impala ceased up solid. This caused the front u-joint to snap and launch the car about 2 feet in the air. Let me tell you that was an experience. Never found one hub cap and it is likely either still rolling or in orbit someplace. I actually came across the repair bill a while back and if I recall it was for $136 to replace. That includes all parts and labour!
