I REALLY do not want to endure that 2 hour training again to get you an exact answer, but it was definitely not "our policy will be" - it was a strong statement that we were not allowed to request proof of belief, and my recollection is they stated it was illegal. I could be wrong. I have updated the original statement with a notation that it was edited/changed.

Can't blame you for that! I'm no legal expert, particularly on CA law, so I could be wrong as well.

A close friend of mine that works in sales was told for their company, only vaccinated people will be allowed in the office. All others will continue wfh. That is how they are dealing with it. Though their HR personal does not believe they can enforce it due to Hipaa. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got the Pfizer shot today, and ironically the mass vaccination site was at an old air base.

If you DO have a condition where you can't be vaccinated safely, this is still the best option. On the other hand, the office isn't where I have the most concerns, though I do have some - transit is the bigger issue at the moment. Obviously that's less true in some places where transit isn't an option... My team is also spread out across 7 or 8 locations, so so much of our work is already virtual. I'm not sure if it'll ever go back to requiring onsite. We'll see.

An employer can ask health related questions as long as they are kept confidential and treated like health records. This goes beyond COVID of course, but the vaccination falls under that guidance. Employers (at least in every state I work) ask health related questions all the time as part of the hiring and continued employment process. Technically, a drug test is a medical record, and I've had one for every job I've taken since the late 90's. This is a good article that explains how the EEOC has already approved employers requiring vaccination, the 4 exceptions, and how they have to treat it as a medical record. I work for a hospital system that is very conscious of HIPAA requirements, yet to continue to work there I have to have all the "standard" vaccinations, take a TB test every year, and get a flu shot.

AFAIK an employer can't ask or discriminate due to vaccine status. Wouldn't that go into some kind of HIPAA, Pii category? I asked about this because my office is supposedly going to start slowly coming back and we are treating everyone like they haven't had the vaccine. Rotating shifts and social distancing policies.
You can offer the information up, but it's (supposedly) illegal for us to ask our teams who has had the vaccine. I work out of Michigan and haven't gone through the rules, just many...many conference calls. |

Got my second shot on Friday morning. Was tired and a little warmer than normal. Otherwise, I felt fine. In fact, I spent some time yesterday evening giving my car a pre-spring detail (just waiting for the pollen to stop so I can really detail her). I was half tempted to return to the gym, but figured some 'active recovery' would be good enough. Today I feel no different than before the shot.
However, I did find myself reading up more on mRNA vaccines, gene expression, and protein synthesis as I'm still boggled by people insisting it manipulates their DNA. As if it's some sort of cheesy 70's G-man conspiracy. All of it is a bit above my comprehension, but find it fascinating regardless. One thing is certain, the sheer amount of data out there and the complexity seriously explains why there is magnitudes of misinformation or misinterpretation.

No side effects from Pfizer other than a tiny bit tender deltoid muscle on one side. I wish everyone was vaccinated already!
